Bugaboo donkey v Out n About

Went to have a look at pushchairs today. I really want something with the carrycots/ seats side by side which limits the options.

Originally thought the Mountain Buggy duet was the one to go for but the shop assistant really talked us out of it.

Any thoughts on bugaboo donkey v Out n About? I know the bugaboo is A LOT more expensive and a lot wider. The carrycots for the Out n About seemed tiny but otherwise it seemed ok.

Thanks!

I had the Out and About with my twins and it was perfect for us. I bought it secondhand for £60, looked after it carefully and sold it 4 years later for £60 Grin I personally think spending £1500 on a buggy is a waste and every single twin parent I know who bought a Bugaboo sold it before their twins turned one and got a smaller buggy.

@neversleepagain thank you! I think we are leaning towards that one. Did you have the carrycots? They seem so narrow and I wonder whether they could just lie flat in the seats..

Out n About was the best ever.

No, I didn't have the carry cots, mine went straight into the seats. Although, mine were born in at the very end of September and only discharged from NICU mid October, I had surgery end of October so by the time we regularly went out in the buggy the girls were almost 12 weeks old and not as teeny tiny.

We have a donkey and it’s been great for us, the carrycot came in handy for sleeping in when we were travelling too. I really obsessed over which doubles were wider than others but in the grand scheme of things I can’t say I look and compare. More important has been the boots space if you intend to use it with a car.

Hi! I don't have the out n about, but I do have the mountain buggy and the donkey (both second hand!)
I bought both before the babies were born, and they are now 4 months old. Initially bought the mountain buggy as was v highly recommended, but as I drive A LOT where we live (no shops etc in walking distance) I realised that being able to swap the car seats in and out of the buggy was something I really needed to be able to do easily and the mountain buggy was really awkward for this IMO. So I then got the donkey and it is great for swapping over from carry cots, to car seats etc - all v smooth and easy just clicking them in and out. So if you drive a lot and think you will use the car seats, is def recommend the donkey HOWEVER - it is VERY wide - it doesn't fit through many doors..! I've discovered there is barely an internal door it fits through, the doors to baby changing rooms often aren't wide enough for it with the car seats..!
So - Things I like about bugaboo:
The ease of switching between car seat and carrycot
The fact the frame can condense down to put in boot.
The fact it can be a (wide) single buggy if you want it to.
It's a very smooth ride/push
Things I don't like:
It's just too wide for getting around shops etc.
The frame is heavy and I still don't have the knack of the first part of opening the frame up when you get it out the boot to sit on the ground.
I think like someone said above that I will prob sell the donkey on soon once we aren't using the car seats or carrycots - as the mountain buggy is MUCH narrower and will allow me to get through doors!
Only reason why I might keep the donkey longer is to allow me to have parent facing seats. I don't know if the out n about allows that, but I know with my elder son, I used to love chatting too him as we walked along, and the mountain buggy is just world facing.
Hope that helps!
