Twin Prams - any recommendations?

Hi there

Does anyone have any great tips for twin prams? I have a two year old son and the twins are due mid Sept-early Oct so need to order a new pram soon. I live in London so ideally don't want something too wide or too long but am not yet sure whether I want a side-by-side or a one-in-front-of-the-other style pram. Also will need to be able to fit a buggy board and be as light as possible and preferably easily foldable. Sounds like the search for the Holy Grail, doesn't it . . .

Many thanks!

Hi Millie1. Just saw your msg after I posted mine with the link to the demo. I'm really not sure. I would like to see the iCandy and Jane together too, but the closest iCandy to me is in what sounds like quite a small shop, and she doesn't keep the Jane in stock as she said it was "just too big and cumbersome and heavy" - err, sounds a bit concerning doesn't it!!! After reading those threads it seems that the iCandy might not be quite man enough for the job once they get a bit bigger. My hub is a bit concerned, without having seen it that is, that it might not be that stable as it wasn't designed to take two children in the first place. I really like the look of that Zoom thing, though! I see what you mean - quite different. I'd love to see that in the flesh, how about you?

Just not sure Drovette. Haven't seen any yet although our local shop said they will have the Jane early Feb and possibly the iCandy too. Would really love to see the Zoom but I can guarantee that it will not be stocked anywhere in N. Ireland. Actually, the more I've looked at it, I would like to see both the Jane Twin Two and the Powertwin. Powertwin concerns me as only one seat lies flat for a newborn and the other is suitable from 6 months. Twin Two - both suitable from birth but then it's a four-wheeler and probably not as easy to steer. It's hard isn't it. I do know what your husband means about wanting to see before buying ... we bought a Phil & Teds when DS2 was born - didn't see it locally and purchased on-line. I liked it, DH hated it from the word go. The dangers of internet shopping! Oh, am just looking at your link, it's the Twin Two. Must go and watch it - thanks for that.

Oooh ... they're both pretty bulky when folded with seats and wheels intact. Will a twin pram really fit in the small boot which comes with an MPV?? Great videos - thanks Drovette.

Hi Millie1. Glad you could open the videos ok. I've spoken to Leebruss who make the Zoom today - they were really, really helpful. In case you're interested, there aren't any in the country at the moment (I assume this also aplies to NI), and they're not expected for another 4 weeks, then it would be 6-8wks on top if you placed an order (unless a shop ordered one in to sell). I've asked her for the width of the pushchair seats (this should give a good idea of size) and she's going to send me this asap. You have to remove the seats to fold it up, but it does have a small carry 'basket' which you leave on all the time. It's about the same length as the Jane Twin Two, but 8" shorter when folded. Apparently, there's also more room between the two seats than on the iCandy. And you can have any seat combination facing in any direction, which I thought was great. Except if you have the carrycots on it - they have to go hood to hood, which is not fantastic. Sorry to bore you with all this if you're not interested in the Zoom! If I find out anything more about any of the others I'll let you know.

Thanks Drovette ... that is interesting. Had wondered about the basket as I couldn't see one when I looked last night. Have started a post on Chat re MPV's with enough boot space to hold buggy when 3 rows in use ... bit depressing really! Think I'll contact Jane and ask them for folded dimensions of both prams when seats are attached. Shall keep you posted!
