I'll be 35+1 and the babies aren't growing very well anymore, probably completely out of room, so instead of my section being at 38 weeks, the consultant said
"see you Monday"

OMG! and I wish MN did a sh*tting my load emoticon because that would be here too.

I had an emergency section with dd but was so out of it and in complete agony they could have pulled her out of my ear for all I cared, but I am proper scared this time.

Off now to look up the "I'm scared about having a section" thread I started before dd was born to chill me out. If anyone wants to add anything positive and encouraging PLEASE feel free!

Eek.

oh how exciting! wishing you lots of luck, come back asap & tell us everything .

chopster · 13/07/2007 10:08

oh wow! Good luck with it.

I had a section planned with my dts. It was lovely really. Completely calm and relaxed. I was scared too - my heart was racing when they started, but compared to a vaginal birth it was so peaceful!

Orchide · 13/07/2007 10:08

i had a section when myy daughter was born 6 weeks ago...it was a really really positiv experience.

im normaly v squeamish, niot at all good with anything hospitaly/injections/blood etc. and so was surprised at just how positive it was. the worst part for me was walking into op. room and seeing all th medical paraphanlia (sp?) but i took a few deep breaths and thought calm n happy thoughta! once spinal block was in, i was laid back with DH sitting at my side listening to music, i felt pretty ok - i took a cd of music in to play....'she's beautiful was plaing as my daughter was born! i was pretty shaky and out of it in the hours after but was v knackered after 3 attempts at induction and little sleep in previous 48 hours.

hope some of that helped {hmm} and u get lots of sleep before monday!!!

chopster · 13/07/2007 10:08

and don't forget to come and join us ont he d'ya thread once you get back home.

BibiThree · 13/07/2007 10:19

Am being really encouraged by how peaceful and calm people found it. I'm going ask today about music etc. I tried that with dd's birth though and ended up telling dh to "turn that effin racket off!" but I was rather stressed! I'm also going to tell them about my low pain threshold, fear of needles and ask maybe if I could ahve some gas and air for the epidural so I stay calm. Do you think they'll say yes?

Hi BibiThree

I had a planned c section with my twins and it was a really positive experience. The procedure was organised and calm and I healed up incredibly quickly (was running up stairs at home 5 days later).

I think it's quite different when it's a scheduled procedure rather than an emergency. Everyone in theatre was lovely and chatty and anesthetist stayed by my head and kept me talking. They played relaxing music and each baby got whoops and a round of applause when the consultant pulled her out!

It's natural to feel nervous, especially if you had a scary experience last time. Just take each stage as it comes and try not too think too far ahead. Good luck!

chopster · 13/07/2007 10:23

I don't know if they will allow gas and air, for one thing the position you have to be in, it might be rather awkward anyway. BUt you really don't feel a thing, and even if you feel pressure or anything, jsut tell them and they will apply more anaesthetic. I fell a lisght dull pain, and told them and then I didn't feel a thing. Just concetrate on curlign up as much as you can, then it goes in really easily and you are distracted.

chopster · 13/07/2007 10:24

My anaesthetist was gorgeous. He has the sexiest voice, and so was a great distraction!

glamourbadger · 13/07/2007 11:42

Mine was a total babe as well!

I didn't feel anything with the spinal block. They numbed my back with a wet solution and I just felt a bit of pressure. I got in a real flap over the catheter but they put this in after I was numb and I didn't even realise they had done it. It's funny that the things you get so worked up over usually amount to nothing.

Pristine · 13/07/2007 20:15

Good luck Bibi!!

My c-section was scheduled for 37 weeks, but at my appt. the week prior, pre-E had truly set in, and they said, "You're delivering tomorrow."

I cried the whole way home. :blush

I was on Mag Sulfate, so it wasn't the most pleasant experience, but the spinal was nothing, and the entire medical staff had me laughing, as they did my tubal and stitched everything up. V. strange conversations, indeed.

MilaMae · 13/07/2007 21:19

My 2nd planned section after the twins was lovely as I knew what to expect so wasn't so petrified. Believe me I'm normally the biggest chicken out but having done it all before it was very calm and dare I say it- special. It was all over so quick too. By the time I'd said hello to her they were stiching me up.

lulumama · 13/07/2007 21:21

inamuckingfuddle · 14/07/2007 20:17

I was in a similar position, due to see consultant at 35+1 as DT1's growth had slowed, then went into spontaneous labour bang on 35wks...good luck

BibiThree · 15/07/2007 14:36

Sorry Mars, been in such a tizz all wknd I ahven't checked this thread, but THANK YOU for the offer. I'm feeling oay at the mo, resigned tot he fact that there's no getting out of it and if any of it hurts then it's going to hurt and I've got to deal with it.
I'll be a gibbering wreck tomorrow and dh will probaby get the brunt of my mood, but he'll understand

Thanks all, I'll get dh to post when we know all's well.
