Monitors for twins

I've found respisense but it doesn't have great reviews. What are you planning to use or have used with twins?

Where are you planning for them to sleep? Same room / separate rooms, same cot for a while or not? Just trying to gauge whether you're looking for one monitor or two.

Tbh we just have the BT baby monitor our first had in one room, and an Ikea one in the other once we separated them (still planning to get them back in together, we just haven't bitten the bullet). I'd have gone crazy with a video monitor or similar, I'd never have stopped looking at it. Other people have more self control.

The respisense looks clever but I don't see why it claims to be especially good for multiples?

Planning on having them sleep together, in our room. For my DS (now 5) I used the angel care sensor mat and monitor. But you can't have twins co sleep and use that sensor mat. The respisense works well for twin because it attaches to each baby when they sleep and an alarm goes off if they stop breathing.

Hi Motorola monitor is fab as u can move the camera. I have this for my twins x

I had the sensor mats and seperate cots. Mine spent time in cots together when awake but always seperated them for sleep. Meant they learned to sleep by themselves and also I believe everyone deserves their own sleeping space.

I'd just get a video monitor such as the Motorola. No evidence that sensor mats decrease SIDS.

We have the Motorola video monitor with camera that rotates and goes up/down. You also get second camera so if you separate them you're still good Smile

My neonatal unit advised against getting sensor pads - they thought an audio monitor was sufficient and that the pads go off too easily and make the parents jumpy.

We just used one audio only monitor. It worked fine, mostly because when one woke up they both woke up.

An audio monitor does not tell you that your baby isn't breathing.

We didn't have problems with the sensors going off on the mats. They use them in nicu units so it's surprising they advise against them at home.

2014 did you put your twins in the same cot but on 2 different sensor pads?

No seperate cots for sleeping. I wanted them to be able to get to sleep by themselves

They don't use them at UCH in London. But then the children are monitored by nurses 24 hours a day. However, I don't think they would advise against them without considering the pros and cons. Just thought I would pass that on.

Of course, whatever works for you.
