Hiya
Like mumoftwinsX2 I have twins and have just found out that i am pregnant with twins . My second set are due in June and there will only be a 14 month gap between the two sets.
I'm excited/scared about the new arriavals - if they're half as well behaved as our exisiting two we should be fine! But I do have some serious questions that I hope someone out there will be able to help me with!
The main thing on my mind is how do you get about with four kids who I assume won't be walking properly (I mean, can 14 month old kids ride a buggy board??). What age do kids really start walking properly? I'm thinking I need a tripple buggy and a baby bjorn?
I guess we'll be getting an MPV - does anyone know if its safe to attach baby seats to all the seats?
I'm sure plenty of people have been here before me. Does anyone have any other practical tips on how to manage?

Thanks all! xx

That first quad-buggy is divine - I almost wish I was having enough babies to fill one up! They are going to take up a lot of boot space though - so check it'll fit in the car. I much prefer the 2 by 2 style, looks more snug & sociable.

Glassofwine - v. sensible having some help at home. My 3rd DC coincided with our area getting Ocado and I rarely have to go to the supermarket now - it's a godsend for parents!

You could also consider paying a childminder to take the older twins to nursery/pre-school when they start, the school run can be surprisingly tiring and inconvenient when you have babies around!

And don't even think about doing the ironing!!

Congratulations!!!!! Good luck!!!!! I don't have twins, but have 3 under 4! I always thought that it would be fun to have twins though!!!!! do you have lots of help, will you be out and about alone or is it worth simply buying 2 twin buggies???? On the theme of quad buggies, in the NES Arnold catalogue you can get a buggy for 8! It's like a mini-bus on wheels and you can buy a little canopy for it, it looks like one of those train-on-a-road things!!!! It's great! (mainly for childminders and the like!)

There is a set of twins in DS1's year at school. Their mum has another set of twins in the year below (13 months between them). I asked her how on earth she survived when they were very young... she replied "I am still surviving!"

But she does survive! and she does amazingly well. I am in awe of her. I couldnt imagine having one set of twins let alone two sets and so close together!

Congratulations stanley1000. Just think, you will have a lovely big family produced very quickly

Poor and lucky clever you... It will be very special. I just had one set of twins. At one stage we had a baby, a 1 year old and a 3 year old. But never 4 close together. The twins came after. if you're out with your partner I would put a new baby in a sling and push the other twins in a double buggy or may be get 2 cheap light fold up ones when you to out as two people. I expect there are things you can buy for quads that would fit all 4 in pushed by one person but I bet they're expensive.
We had 3 babyseats in the care at one point. You'll have to check with the garage about safety in the car. With 5 we were okay with a normal car. When we got the twins we got a volvo estate with 2 extra seats in the boot but by then we hardly ever drove all 5 chidlren together because of the age differences. You might be able to get someone from the local nursery childcare college/courses to come in to help for work experience with you.

Hi Stanley, wow, what can i say. My ds1 was 20 months when twins arrived and that was hard work!!
I agree with some other posters that a quad buggy might be best, you could do the sling thing with a double buggy now and again, but I think it would be quite hard to push a double and carry two babies in a sling.
I would suggest a quad, otherwise you might find you just don't get out of the house much. It wont be any wider than a double so you will be able to get in some shops.
I think with dts, they tend to be a buggie for longer, with ds1 by the time he was 2 I would walk him into playgroups. Now i do try that with all three (dts now 2 and he is 3), but is is hard work with every one running in opposite directions.
I am sure that you would be able to resell a quad as they are always in demand. Good luck

Congratulations!
My son was 20 months when I had twin boys and one of the best purchases we made was a Toyota Lucida. It's a Japenese import, so it's cheaper than buying the Previa, it's slightly narrower so it's easier to park, and it's diesel, so it's far cheaper to run. They're the biggest people carrier around so they have eight seats and a HUGE boot. This means you can space the children out so they can't reach each other and fight, and so much room for travel cots, buggies, highchairs and all the other things small people need to take everywhere with them. I was reluctant at first because I didn't want to feel like I was driving a bus, but it's an automatic with power steering, so it's so easy to handle. And Toyota are the most reliable cars on the road!

Have I won you over yet?
