What mode of delivery should I aim for?

I'm open minded about it and of course it is dependant on position, gestation and probably a whole bunch of other things i haven't thought about.
Currently 32 weeks and all is going well. I've had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery before. Now apparently I can choose either c section or vaginal. I had been working at getting me head around probably having a section as both babies were transverse for weeks but at my scan today, they are both now head down.
I know there are positives and negatives to both. The main positive of c section is that it would probably be more predictable. And I wouldn't have to push out two babies. But the down side is the recovery and it seems intuitive to try and avoid major surgery when I'll have two newborns and a toddler to look after.
What choice did you make in these circumstances? What would you do? Any arguments for and against either?

I can't advise on delivering twins yet as i am also 32 weeks, but i had a planned section with my dd and everyone had scared the hell out of me about recovery, so i just wanted to share that the recovery was very easy in my case. I was out and about 10 days later. Yes you can't drive for few weeks or lift heavy things ( a bit like my pregnancy to be honest), but i had no problems at all caring for my newborn and only have positive memories.
Because i've had a previous section i can't really do a vbac with twins this time, besides the fact they are still both breeched, so i will be having a section again and i hope to have a similar experience as last time but i know that things can always go differently second time around...

Not sure if any of this helps you in any way, but good luck with your decision.

What sort of twins are they, that would make a diference to my opinion?

I'm 35w with DCDA twins, twin 1 head down, twin 2 transverse. I've also got a toddler and had him vaginally. I have been pushing for them to let me have a vaginal delivery this time too. I was told I had a very low lying placenta at my 20w scan which they've been keeping an eye on. Luckily it's moved enough that they have said it's now safe and are happy to induce me at 37w.
I had a retained placenta last time which bothers me (two placentas to deliver this time, combined with increased chance of it happening again = panic) and a massive PPH, so an ELCS would probably be the option most people would go for in my situation, but without any help at home, 2 newborns and a toddler, I can't be sat recovering for days let alone weeks!

When is your next app with your consultant to discuss it? What option are they more inclined to go for? What is your gut feeling?
You could also ask for a copy of your hospitals statistics on twin deliveries. I read somewhere about a lady who found out her hospital pushed for induction, which ended up failing in a rather large % of cases, so she opted for an ELCS at the outset so as not to risk needing an EMCS.
Good luck whatever option you go for. Smile

I gave birth to twins last week. I had planned to have a c section on Thursday because I really didn't like the idea of being induced. However my waters broke on Tuesday. I still wanted to have a c section but my contractions started so I opted to try and push them out which was much easier than giving birth to my son. Recovery was a lot quicker and I only needed one stitch (I guess the damage was done first time round!).

My twins are identical and born at 35 +2

I had a csection with DD and refused another one, doctors had to have it signed off, if ... i needed a ECS at any point. Had them naturally, all went well, apart from the students who kept popping in as a natural twin birth is unusual.

Hello! Sorry- I totally forgot I started this thread!
Twins are dcda, nothing complicated so far whatsoever. They are measuring on the 60th centile each and currently over 4lb at 32 weeks. Delivery with dd was fine and uncomplicated so they are likely to recommend me for that again.

Oh wow! They're doing really well!
In that case I'd probably try for a vaginal delivery. If there's been no complications, babies are facing the right way and you've had no issue in the past then I wouldn't be putting myself through major surgery if I didn't need to, but that's just me. Smile
