Can 'Twin 2' be born first?

Hello,

So I've currently got twin one on my right and head down and twin 2 on my left and head up. I have been told that the one on my right will be born first and is therefore twin 1.

I'm wondering if this can change? I wouldn't want to go into labour expecting twin 2 to come first and find that my breech baby wants to come first. Does anyone know if that's a risk?

I'm not a medical person but I was told when pregnant that twin 1 would always be twin 1 regardless of vaginal or c-section so I'm assuming that no it wouldn't change.

Whichever one comes out first will be twin 1. If the one head down seems to be engaging (head going lower) then that shouldn't be a problem. If the bottom of the other is stopping the head from engaging then they may discuss a section with you, how many weeks are you?

28 at the moment. The one that they are calling twin 1 is the one they assume will come first. I yes I'm wondering if this assumption could be wing! Neither baby engaged yet, just twin 1 apparently closer to the birth canal.

You still have a way to go, so could change! I presume they will monitor positions and discuss nearer the time about delivery. Fir now either could be twin 1 or 2!

Twin 2 was delivered first for me. I had a c-section and then twin 1 was delivered a minute later. My twins shared a placenta so i don't know whether that had something to do with it as no one really explained i just heard the words "twin 2 is coming first" when i was in theatre!

I gave birth 6 weeks ago to twin girls and twin 2 was delivered first breech and twin 1 delivered via forceps.

I was induced at 36 weeks due to suspected pre eclampsia. During observing me after being induced, senior doctor was worried about cord collapse so I think sneakily ruptured my waters during internal as literally 5 minutes later waters broke and mayhem descended.

I was rushed into theatre bewildered and distraught due to not knowing what was happening and hearing emergency 1, staff rushing around.

I was given a spinal and had to push twin 2 out breech with assistance from the top 2 doctors who happened to be available and the push Twin 2 out with the help of forceps.

The only side effects of the experience was shock, having uncontrollable shakes for an hour and half due to spinal. I had 500ml blood loss and no tears.

Gosh that sounds a bit scary! Did they know your presenting twin was breech?

Twin 2 for me was born first - but the hospital referred to her as twin 1, as she was born first. We only really know that for sure as I had TTTS and T2 was the bigger baby.

So after they were born they switched T1 was T2 and T2 became T1Grin

So at my 28 week scan, twin 2 is now the presenting twin! That answers my question I guess. They will continue to call her twin 2 so they can ensure they track the growth of each correctly.
Both babies now transverse so can't make any assumptions about delivery.
Thanks all.
