Hospital stay with twins

Hi....
I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant with identical twin boys and my thoughts are now turning to delivery & hospitals. I haven't been told much about either of these, all I know is that if they haven't made an appearance by 36 weeks I will be induced.
I guess my question is at how many weeks were your twins born? How heavy were they? Andy ow long did you have to stay in hospital for? If at all? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, I'm sure I'll be told all of this in due course, I'm just a little impatient. Ha!
Than you x

My non id twins were born at 37 weeks weighing 6lb 2 and 7lb 7. I had s planned section as they were both breech. Extremely uncomfortable!

Hi Dawn, congratulations, twins are fab!

My ID boys were delivered at 34+4 by C section, my consultant was concerned about IUGR.
They weighed 5lb 1oz and 3lb 14oz.
They stayed in SCBU for 2 weeks, T1 was on a ventilator and had chest x-rays and all sorts. T2 who was the lighter of them was in oxygen for a few hours but then breathing ordinary air.
They were moved out of incubators after the first 24hrs.

They were tube fed as their sucking reflex hadn't started when they were delivered, but luckily I had started to produce colostrum by the time they were delivered so could express for them and they also had formula.
We established breast feeding without any issues (although because I chose to feed each on demand rather than trying to get them to feed together, I did spend A LOT of time feeding in the early weeks!)

They are now 4 and a half and you wouldn't know they had been prem or had ever been so different in size!

Best of luck - get lots of sleep now...

non ID boys born at 37+3
I was induced, laboured for 13 hrs (both were head down) but ended up with a C-section as did not/could not fully dilate.
boys were 6lbs 1 oz and 6 lbs 4 oz.
In 5 nights, would have gone home sooner but one was suspected of having an infection and we had to wait for test results (which didn't come over the weekend) - which turned out to be negative anyway...

my hospital ran a session specifically for multiple mums (the midwife leading it had twins herself) which was very useful and included a tour of the maternity unit/SCBU - do ask if yours has something similar

best of luck!

Non ID, planned section at 37+2 (due to previous tear & haemorrhage) 5lb 2 and 5lb 1, stayed 3 nights due to blood sugar monitoring for them. I spent a long time deliberating about section or not and in the end decided to go with whatever the Obs recommended - they looked at my colorectal scans from first time round and advised section.
