Feed together??

Hello, we have just started weaning and i wondered how other twin mummies managed - do you feed both at same time or separately? Also interested in a sample days 'menu' - breakfast, lunch and dinner for early stages weaning that involves just starting on protein. Thank you!!

We have just started weaning too so I'm interested to see other's replies. I am feeding them together and it's chaos but they seem to be enjoying it!

Diamond we're feeding at the same time too and it's sometimes good and sometimes bad, very bad. Hopefully some mums who been there and done that can help us navigate!

I would look at baby led weaning.

Then they feed themselves, so you give some food, they eat/ play with it, and you get to eat your own food

I fed them together. It was one of the bonuses of twins, while one was swallowing you were feeding the other. The other advantage is if one doesn't like what you've made the chances are the other will!
I can't remember what the early weaning was, I followed Gina Ford.
We bought two cheap foldable high chairs, with trays. The ones that sit at the table look lovely but not great if you're trying to spoon feed them. Once they were about 2 we got Baby Dan chairs which we are still using 6 years later.
I was a it of a control freak, and didn't let them do much feeding themselves as I couldn't face double the mess of cleaning it up!!

At the same time in bouncy chairs initially as mine couldnt sit unaided until 8.5 months so blw wasn't an option initially.

Mine took 2 months to be on three meals a day. We started with veg then fruit and protein last.

A month in it was pureed fish, mash and leeks. Pureed pasta bolognese, cottage pie. Softly scrambled eggs.

That is all I remember, seems like a lifetime ago!

I fed mine together - too small for high chairs so I fed them in Bumbo seats for a while. We did a mixture of purees and finger food - one seemed to like feeding herself more than the other. Started with just one 'meal' and gradually added more in as we had time - there was a period when I seemed to mostly be feeding them or cleaning up! It got a lot easier when they started feeding themselves more with some finger foods - much easier to eat a meal yourself that way too. Used some principles of BLW but didn't do it properly, however, did stop purees as soon as possible as it was one more thing to do and they didn't need them for long. I started on fruits and veg, later moved to things like bits of chicken and soft cheese on toast. I can't remember menus but as long as you try to introduce a variety of tastes and avoid certain things e.g. nuts it should be ok. Good luck with it!

I fed mine together, found eventually they started feeding each other, so cute!

Baby led weaning worked a treat for us. We just put them in their high chairs for each meal, gave them some age-appropriate finger food, and let them get on with it! They are brilliant eaters now and will chow down whatever we put in front of them. I think the good eating is, at least in part, down to the fact that they got used to the texture of things right off the bat.

Good starters are things like sticks of soft steamed veg (carrots, courgette and broccoli were a major favourite), tomato slices, toast soldiers, stick-shaped mild cheese, banana slices, soft steamed and peeled wedges of fruit like apples and pears, flaked salmon (another big favourite), rice cakes, etc. I didn't avoid spoon feedingthey loved plain yogurt for breakfastbut the self-feeding really made dinner time pleasant for us as I could basically cook one dinner (sans salt) and give it to everyone as it was. Meant that we could enjoy mealtimes as a family.

My sister does BLW with her twins and she feeds them together.

Together. Ikea Antilop chairs have inflatable cushions which we used at first as they were still quite wobbly at 6 months.

BLW with lots of toast, pancakes, scones/muffins (eg apple and almond muffins). Roasted squash, baked sweet potatoes cut into wedges, broccoli, steamed carrots. Lots of fruit and plain yoghurt.

Very. Messy.

And scrambled eggs. How could I forget the scrambled eggs. With peas or sweetcorn stirred in as they cook.
