I have a 22 mth old ds and am 14 weeks pregnant with Twins. Havent got over the shock yet but my main fear is as I dont drive im going to be stuck in the house. I dont like buggy boards much and i think ds is too young for one anyway, triple buggies seem hard to come by and are huge. Have been told of a double buggy you can buy a seat for that clips on the front, but cant find one.
any ideas ?

Congratulations Watso.
When my third was born my eldest turned three the same week and my middle kid was 15m.
the bg kid could walk a fair distance by then of course but there were times when I needeed to push all three.
We bought a Graco tandem and one of the older two would perch on the side of the rear chair. (with the baby underneath ) For longer planned trips I used to rig up a small plank of wood for one of the older kids to sit on. They loved it.

but they are expensive!!

Gem13 · 29/01/2004 21:56

Congratulations!

I haven't received mine yet but the e3 (can't do links easily but a search through the boards will bring up the many discussions on it) might work out.

You could carry one baby in a sling, have the other baby in the newborn bit and your toddler in the front. It might take a buggy board later when you want to put the 'sling' baby in the buggy.

If it worked out it'd be a cheaper alternative to a triple and not too huge for transporting the 3 children around.

BekkiKay · 29/01/2004 22:02

Have you considered slinging?

Hi,
I think if it was me I would go for a decent twin that would be suitable for your eldest and one baby and use a sling for baby number two. I had to do that with my trio if I wanted to go out on my own, it was a lot easier. Anther friend who had triplets bought the triple buggy, she really struggled with the weight and had awful problems getting through shop doors etc. Also dont forget that by the time they are born your eldest will be older so to speak and will be able to walk more with you. The other thing you could do is get help, just ask for volunteers to push one for you, youd be surprised at how many offer, especially older neighbours, makes them feel useful and brings back happy memories! Good luck!

Congratulations Watso! I was in your situation exactly, and I know only too well how shocked you must be feeling. My little girl was just under 3 yrs when my twins were born. Now she's 5 and they're 2.4 so I've spent some time trying to get from A to B with everyone in tow.

I have a McClaren OPUS DUO (which has probably been updated since I got mine) with a buggy board. A seat on the front is a good idea, but must agree with Triplets who pointed out that your oldest little chap will be that much bigger by the time the babies arrive and he may (like my little girl) like hopping on and off the board as he pleases as it gives a bit of freedom. One word of caution - watch out for the width of a double buggy if you get one; they can vary a bit and if they don't fit through a standard doorway life can be even more tricky than it needs to be, especially when out shopping. Mine fits -just-and is manageable if a bit heavy, but when I think of the combined weight I must be pushing these days it's hardly surprising!!

I wish you all the luck in the world - keep us posted with how it goes.

we have 1 year old twins and a 2.5 year old. When we take all three out on our own we usually put 2.5 year old and bigger twin in a double buggy, and carry the smaller twin (first in a front carrier, now in a backpack).

Did you ever find one of these? Or otherwise how did you sort things out?

Thanks!
