Bugaboo Donkey and the Ford Focus

Hi - I'm expecting twins in August and am having a nightmare trying to decide which pram to buy. Does anyone know if the Bugaboo Donkey will fit in the boot of a 2 year old Ford Focus with the carry cots? I was going to opt for the Baby Jogger City Mini Double where I live the terrain can be quite rough and varied so I'm not sure the BJCM will stand up to it. Thanks for any advice or help anyone can offer... x

The Donkey may well fit in your car but won't go through a standard door with the car seats on, and that's why sales in the uk are bombing.
BJCM is v tough and well built, and, bizarrely, the bumpier the ride, the more kids sleep, I find!
You can also get car seat adapters to the BJCM off their website. Good luck!

Hi Hopeful, When we were looking for twin prams we looked everywhere. We found it quite difficult and you definitely don't get the same choice as you would with a single pram. My advice is to ask the shop to let you try it in the boot of the car before you buy it. We were very keen on a Jane Power Twin Pro. We asked the shop if we could try it in the boot of my dh's car which is bigger than mine and it didn't fit. It had one wheel on the front which was the problem and it didn't matter which way we turned it, we couldn't get the boot closed. So it would have been an exspensive mistake to have bought a pram which doesn't fit in the car!

Hi Hopeless, congratulations! You've got a very excitjng and special tome ahead! I've got the donkey, and agree about not fitting through a normal door with the car seat adapters on (I think my DH quite likes it as it stops me shopping so much!!) but otherwise find its brilliant! My DTD's are now 7.5 mths, and I'm stil using the pram for them to have naps during the day. I have changed to the pushchair version a few times, and it is very quick and easy to swap (but not ideal every time). I think the only downside about the pushchair is they can 't lie completely flat, which is also why I'm still using the prams. As for the boot, ii've found it will fit in a fairly small space if you take the prams off, and shrink the frame down to the single version - again not ideal if you need to do frequently. We've got a 4x4 so no problems getting it in! We do quite a bit of 'off roading' with it, and it copes very well. I also like the fact the babies are side by side instead of one on top/underneath. :)

city mini fits in a ford focus - we tried our neighbour's. We then got given an out n'about for free which fits in if you take the boot lid off. After the 3rd time being delayed doing this I got a double maclaren on ebay 2nd hand for sole purpose of keeping in boot and going on holiday with us. Suits us but I now have a huge buggy collection Blush.

The tandems are longer than side by sides and you will struggle with a tandem in a Focus. The BCMJ has very good reviews.
We tried out prams in our car before we bought it. We have a Zafira so pretty much anything fitted but we also wanted a tandem due to not being able get a side by side through our front door (or along many paths we used). Our PowerTwin Pro managed to survive 3 years of very heavy use.

I personally think the Donkey is ridiculously overpriced as well.
