Twin pushchairs?

I've posted this in the pushchairs section too!

I use an 18 month old DD and twins who will be arriving any day now.

I've swapped DD from her Bebe Confort Loola Up travel system to a Maclaren XLR for times when we are out with her alone (Loola wasn't 'upright' enough for her and she was becoming a little frustrated). Chose the XLR as it can be used from birth so we can also use it for one of the twins if we need to.

Also have invested in an ABC Everest Adventure triple pushchair for when we're out with all three children. The toddler seat is easily removed do it can be used as a twin pushchair when DD is in nursery etc.

So here's my dilemma...

Do I need a chassis that I can clip the twin's baby seats into as well? If so, does anyone have any recommendations?

I remember how useful if found being able to transfer DD from car to pushchair in her car seat for the first 6 months and realised that I wont have this option with the twins unless I buy an additional chassis.

Cost is a big issue though as, even using eBay and buying second hand, I've spent £850 on pushchairs in the last couple of months already!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

I had a mini city jogger double thing, which I couldn't use for car seats and they had it from birth. I just moved them from the car seat to pushchair, sometimes they woke and sometimes they didn't. I didn't have any problems with it. I know what you mean about the expense, after car seats, isofix bases and buggies the cost is huge, that is why I didn't go for a system. For 6 months it wasn't worth it for me.

I did find the isofix bases in car useful, really easy to get them in out and not mess about with seatbelts.

I have an older boy and did had the set up where you could put the car seat in.

Good luck with the twins!

I have twins and a toddler. The car seats do not match our buggy so we can't transfer across, but I have not really found it a problem. In the early days they would keep on sleeping if we shifted them from car to buggy. These days (they are 8 mths) you only have to lift the car seat out of the car and they wake up anyway. TBH we don't really do the kind of outings that require the twins to be in the buggy for long periods of time. Do you envisage many outings like this? If not I reckon you can do without.

I agree that generally if they're going to wake up then they do regardless of whether they're staying in a car seat and vice versa (usually anyway!). My DS was always waking up when we came in from somewhere (he was a fairly good sleeper) despite being in a car seat. And my twins get carried in from our ABC daily at the very least, and generally are fine with it! :)
