depends on family history ..

My consultant tols me - for us it would be more like 1 in 4

Can only tell you from my own experience, as a non id twin, only set of twins on either side of the family ever ! my younger brother is a singleton. we all have children and we've only had singletons, all having a boy first !

I have 2 sets of non-id twins. No twins in my family what so ever!!

I had 4 singles and then my first set in 2001...so i was 27. Had second set when i was 30.

Sorry don;t know any statistics.

We were told 80% chance of another set of twins so hubby had the snip Grin

HauntedLittleLunatic · 22/04/2012 22:17

Chances of non-ID twins in the general population is 1 in 80.

If you have had one set you are more likely to have another but I don't know what the actual odds are.

I was in hospital having mine with a nice lady having her second set of non id twins, 18month gap between them. I now understand 'that look' in her eyes.

sandyballs · 24/04/2012 12:41

At my six week check after having my non-ID twins the doctor started chatting about contraception, adding that my chances of another set of non-Id twins were 1 in 16. I was too stunned to ask how he reached these figures.

whitewhitewine · 25/04/2012 13:17

I have non-id twins, as does my nan (mother's side). A doctor at he hospital did remark that there could be a good chance of having twins again considering they are in my family, were my children and I'm in my 20's.

Is it just the higher chance of releasing more than one egg a month?

whitewhitewine · 25/04/2012 13:17

was meant to say first children
