How do you dream feed?

My DTD's are nearly 7 months old, and will sleep from 7 to around 3am, which is great, but I'm just wondering about giving them an extra feed at about 10 to see if they will go through, and just wondered how anyone else does it? Do you leave the baby in the cot and give her a bottle lying down so you don't wake her at all. Or do you rouse her, change nappy and feed in your arms, keeping everything quite as possible? I'm a bit worried that by waking them to feed, they will get used to it and then start waking automatically expecting a feed! Many thanks :)

We dream feed at 10pm - a bottle of 120mls (which we are reducing). I don't bf them then as keep hoping the formula will keep them full and asleep. We simply pick them up out of cot, we don't say anything to them and they just seem to stay asleep and we feed them in our arms. Quick wind over the shoulder and back into cot - takes about 15mins!

Sadly mine still don't go through the night and like yours seem to wake at 3.30/4 or later!

Good luck hope it pushes them further for you! :)

We have always woken our 5mo twins at 10pm, change nappies and give a bottle, then they sleep until 7am (since they were 12 weeks old). In the last week we decided to stop waking DTS who is a bit bigger than DTD, and he has been sleeping all the way from 7pm to 7am, in fact 8am yesterday! We keep it very quiet and no talking, eye contact etc and they settle straight back down.

We dream feed our 3 month old twins at 11pm they go through til 6.30 since they were 8 weeks. Ours need rousing with a nappy change otherwise they won't feed as well. Before the dream feed they were waking at 4am.

Wow, a full nights sleep sounds like heaven! We've just had a dose of D & V so everything has gone to pot now, but I think I may give it a go in a few days when they've settled down again. Thanks for the advice! :)
