Hi I am 9 wks 2 days pregnant with twins, found out when I was 7wks 4 days.
I knew I was going to have morning sickness, I had it with my singleton daughter (2yrs) but my morning sickness this time round has been ridiculous. It started at 8 weeks and I've had little to no let up so much so that I was hospitalised for 2 days, put on a drip, nil by mouth and in utter agony from the hunger. The drip did help me (I guess because it stopped me being dehydrated and having keynotes in my urine, but almost as soon as I was allowed home I started feeling/being sick again. I am going to feel super silly going back in to hospital not 2 days after I'd been discharged.
Anyone else out there with experience of H.G?
How many times were you hospitalised?
Things that helped (my Drs said try eating little and often but this isn't helping me as im chucking up after a single biscuit)
We're your twins ok after repeated admissions to hospital?

Please help x

I had HG with my son but he wasnt a twin. My advice would be drink in teeny tiny amounts and eat what you fancy - all i fancied was salty things but tbh they mostly came back up too. You can try sucking boiled sweets too.

Fwiw i had it until i was 42 weeks with ds - from 7 weeks - he was 8lb 11 and fine

I didn't think about boiled sweets just going to ask my
hubby to get me some humbugs :)

I was only hospitalised the once but bedridden for 5 weeks after I got out, with the slightest movement setting me off. I was on ranitidine and cyclizine for the whole pregnancy. I came out of the bad phase about 18-19 weeks, a stone down in weight.

In hindsight I would seriously recommend taking vit D/calcium tablets in addition to pregnancy vits: DS subsequently turned out to have only partially-enamelled teeth and it is probably related to lack of absorbed calcium while I wasn't eating. When I reached 19 weeks and was able to eat again, I ate tons of cheese sandwiches but it was too late.

Things that helped were not moving at all, then sipping water using a straw still without moving. Lying on my right hand side. Having a very large glass of water in the bathroom, so if I was going to be sick I'd drink half a pint rapidly. This helped stop the dry, painful retching and also helped keep concentrated stomach acid off my own teeth too. I found after a while that at certain times of day I was worse, so I didn't try to eat anything then, and other times I was better, so I'd try and eat, say, a can of chicken soup then. So keep a diary.

Of course my experiences were all from the point of view of someone with no child. You have one already which makes half of this totally impossible. It's one reason I only have one - I couldn't cope with the duracell bunny and be that sick! Good luck...

Ginger beer I think that's what is anyway. Ginger is supposed to be good for settling stomachs and flat carbonated drinks for some reason are good too, so both together are quite good. Also ginger biscuit if you can bare it! I also found mild mints helpful....murry mints nothing to overwhelming and fruit teas. Poor you double amount if hormones bumping about so doubly sick. Sad

Poor you, I so sympathise. I had severe morning sickness whilst pregnant with my twin girls, up until around 19 weeks. Was never hospitalised, though quite a few times I felt like I should have been! Had never experienced the ferocity of it before, was my first pregnancy anyway and thought it was normal....until I began being sick all day, and couldnt keep anything down. Even smells and brushing my teeth would set me off, and my husband had to eat his meals in separate room! I found ice lollys helped, and most drinks like milkshake sipped slowly. Not sure what your gp will say, but my gp did take it seriously and gave me anti sickness pill for a while though you cant stay on them for too long. All i can say is it will pass, and your babies wont be harmed by it - in fact its a good sign apparently....although i did feel fed up when people said that to me! Hope you feel better soon xx

Hi, Ive had three DCs, each time Ive had HG.
I've been repeatedly admitted to hospital ( at least 7 times) with each pregnancy because of dehydration, ketones, weakness etc. Had all drips, medication thing each time ( cyclazine, saline, thiamine, ondensatron, ranitidine etc ).
I normally have HG from 4 weeks right up until when the babies were born, then it miraculously stops. I also ended up pretty much bedridden throughout each pregnancy because I was so weak from being sick ( and I ended up with SPD which gets worse with each pregnancy)
I tried everything that was suggested to try to stop the sickness but nothing worked.
Everyone has a different experience but my babies were totally fine. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
If you need to go to hospital just go, its not silly or something you can control. Its much safer for your health and that of your babies to be treated quickly.
