only found out on sat number 2 is actually twins.

was only planning on having two children, so its all a bit of a shock, had good support on here, and been told about tamba website, but everytime i go on there i read about how its high risk being pg with twins, your more likely to have aarealtionshipbreakdown after having twins and health problems and finical stress etc.

i realise it will be alot of har work, but any positive comment about twins i would LOVE to hear

double the cuddles, double kisses, double funny things, double reaching exciting milestones and when one is unwell and miserable the other one usually makes you laugh

ofcourse there are many challenges to having twins but somehow the above make up for the hardship. I would certainly not swap having twins with having a singleton.

When they hold hands when breastfeeding
When they suck each other's fingers
When they get into bed together and u find them cuddled up
When, even at the age of 6 and most of the time 'hate' each other, they still want to get in the other's bed when they had a nightmare :-)
They always have a playmate, though they do fight like cat an dog lol!
You get to be a member of the multiple mummies club
When they walked into my friend's house who had just had a baby and asked 'where's the other one?'
You can be really smug when singleton mums are looking on in admiration as your twins share their toys so beautifully (ater months and months of practice)
You always have an excellent excuse for being frazzled

I dont have twins, but your local homestart might have a multiple birth group which might be nice to go to ( ours is phenomally popular ).

When my twins were 2.5 yo (after tricky couple of years due to their prematurity and my control freaked ness) we were at a baby music class and they were both sitting on my lap and everyone else had a singleton. I suddenly felt incredibly sorry for the other mummies who only had 1 !!

I can't realy describe it but they are very special and whenever anyone asks the ages of my children I somehow can't wait to mention my twins (I have a singleton too).

Even DH reckons only one child must be boring, even when he's done several laps of the room with a shrieking pair of excited children on his back!

And in restaurants, they can share an adult portion which is usually better than kids choice of nuggets and chips and cheaper than 2 kids menus too.

Our 'first' and only were twins. Upon learning about this, people often comment that it must be so stressful. Not really. I'm not sure whether we were lucky with our two or whether it was because we didn't know any different but I don't recall in the last 12 years ever going 'twins are such hard work'

As it has been pointed out above, it is in fact easier on parents with twins. For ecample, in the evenings the wife and I often stay in the kitchen with a glass of wine and leave the twins to entertain each other. How many parents of young singletons get to do that :)

We have ID girls who started reception in September. Another advantage is that activities are always age-appropriate for both of them. You don't have one child complaining they're bored or a smaller child complaining they can't do the things their big sibling can.

A new baby and a new mummy will be the centre of attention. If Dad can have a baby as well he'll be part of the fun too. There are no "turns" with twins though, two night feeds, nappies, etc and two of you...

Oh, and one birthday party...
