Any ideas very welcome! Our twins are due very soon and haven't sorted this one out yet! Do you have a small settee in your bedroom? Extra bouncy chairs? We're a bit limited on space but what's working well for you?

hello again

Feeding in bed was a bit of a nightmare for my back so I had a v small sofa in the nursery (although they slept in our room for 3 months). It meant I could feed both and also change them in there before putting back down to sleep. And when I decided to feed one a time the other wasn't disturbed. I used a bouncer when getting both of them onto the pillow on my own.

I fed in bed. Had the cot, which they shared to begin with, pushed up against the bed so I just had to roll over and get them out. To start with I fed separately at night, but once i got tandem feeding sorted, about 2 wks, I started feeding them together at night too. Realised I was making much more work for myself! Kept EZ-2-nurse cushion by the bed and sat up, got them onto bed and then put them on cushion, latched them on and then dozed.

I only changed mine if they'd done a poo. I did that on the top of my chest of drawers, used it like a changing table. Worked well but no extra furniture needed :-)

You don't need much

I started off going to the couch in the living room - set up with ez-2 nurse cushion, remote for tv, water, snacks etc before I went to bed. But quite quickly I moved to feeding them lying down in bed - first one at a time, while dh cuddled the other, and then got the hang of double lying down feeding (had one on crook of my arm, and one lying basically on my tummy - got the tummy feeder latched on first, and then leaned over to other one and scooped them up and latched them on). It took a bit of time to get the hang, but was so worth it, was able to sleep and then they would roll over and sleep.

We coslept with them both fulltime from birth - we were used to cosleeping from dd1 - you need to ensure firm bed, no thick duvets, pillows away from babies, no drinking or smoking or drugs. Might also be more tricky with premies, ours were born at 37+5 and over 6lbs each. We also had a sidecar cot like kathryn2804, they didn't really get into it, but it gave us more space in the bed becasue one baby could be right be the edge of the bed or roll into the cot.

Loved the EZ2 nurse for daytime feeds and the early nighttime ones, it was briiliant for handsfree nursing once they were latched on.

I had thought that I would feed two at a time, had an EZ2nurse pillow kindly lent to me, but I never got on with it, and prefer to nurse one after the other. In the day it means I can use the other hand to drink tea/water or eat or read the newspaper or attend to dd1. At night I means I can lie right down and rest while feeding. I fed in bed at night, which works well.

Sorry meant to say we have a change mat, nappies, wipes, cream on top of the drawers in the bedroom. Low light is the other thing you need. Babies slept together in a moses basket (small cuddly ID girls) until 5 months, then went into a cot in their own room.

I also fed in bed lying down. During the night I fed one at a time and would normally fall asleep while feeding. It meant I actually got a pretty decent nights sleep.
I also used the EZ2 nurse for day time feeds and found it brilliant.

Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences with me. That gives me a lot to think about- lots of choices and variations. Wow, Mumsnet is truly fantastic!
