People assume my twins are one boy and one girl - why?

I've bought pink blankets to cover them in their pushchair to help stop the "oooh one of each?" comments that usually end in "Oh never mind". I am delighted to be blessed with id twin girls and a 3yo girl and have no issues about not having a boy but everyone else seems to to the extent that they'll ignore the pink blankets to assume one must be a boy. I could understand when dtds are in white or yellow, and I'm not dressing them the same (I need to know which is which!)

Does anyone have any funny responses I can use? I'm getting bored of the standard "no they're both girls".

That's funny, I've had the opposite reaction. People often say to me are they boys or girls? when I say I have twins; and mine are B+G. Then they ask if they're identical, which is v oddConfusedGrin

Mine are 10 now though. Tbh I wouldn't let it bother you. You'll get all sorts of assumptions as a mum of twins. People often think they're the first to say 'double trouble?' too; but you hear that about 100x a week.

Enjoy your beautiful girls Smile

Yep, I reply "double the cuddles" to that one! Grin

I have exactly the same experience as you LemonDrink...even though they are usually dressed quite boy-and-girl like. PrincessScrumpy, I had mine in one blue and one pink blanket and people would say ..."Oohh, two boys?" or "Two girls?". Very strange! I always inwardly rolled my eyes and said, "No, one of each" but in my head I said "Yes but we're trying to give the one in boys/girls clothes a complex" ! Plus I get the "Are they id" question a lot. Still, I'm so proud of them and feel so so lucky to be a twin mummy I don't mind any questions, daft or otherwise, really :))

I have boys and have the same. To be fair , ds2 is quite a pretty boy with his curls. big eyes and long lashes & it is always he who people assume is a girl. It is a bit wearing at times but, if I bother correcting them at all, I often say he's our honorary girl to save their embarassment (though I think that might be well on its way to being inappropriate given they're 18months). I did have one old lady asking if I was absolutely sure he was a boy when he was around 10months old Confused. Apparently he is too pretty to be male, unlike his brother who she reckoned is hard-faced so obviously a boy Shock Hmm Biscuit. Have also been told off for dressing him in girly clothes. I only have one set of clothes that they both share and sometimes he's even in his swimming trunks when the comments are made.....

I have G/B twins and have lost count of the people who go 'oo identicals' er no, they don't even look alike.

Also was out with them and their older sister and was asked what it was like to have triplets. She's head and shoulders taller and clearly not 2. I just smile.

I get sick of the oh you have your hands full comments. My boys are 6 months but I soon shut them up when I tell them I've got another set but girls who are 3 so they look horrified so then I throw into the conversation that I have a 4 year old boy aswell lol. I love the faces I get of sheer horror :-)

I also have b/g twins that would be mistaken for 2 boys or 2 girls and yes, the "are they identical?" question is quite alarming - especially when I had it from a midwife once Shock!!!

My twins are 6 now and don't look very alike at all, so I really miss the "ooh, twins" comments. I used to love it really - if ever I was feeling down when they were little I'd saunter round the supermarket and wait for people to stop me and tell me how lucky I was Smile.

Wow Harry TWO sets of twins plus another...gosh you really do have your hands full..sorry, sorry!! It is an annoying thing to keep hearing I know too well, but I salute you nonetheless.

Mandy me too. A lot of people don't realise mine are twins anymore now they're 10 Sad. I can remember taking them out in their pram when they were a few days old and people in shops stared and grinned all soppily at them. It was niceSmile
