Self feeding bottles

hey :)

I had b/g twins two weeks ago. I am combining expressed breast milk and formula, just wondered if what your thoughts are on self feeding bottles. I find I'm already propping a bottle up for one of them sometimes when the crying is stereo....

I thought they could be useful especially at night

Listen, you do what you can in the best way you can think of, don't you.

Have you tried working out a way to get them to both breast feed at the same time, as that is another way to calm two crying babies?

That would be quite diddicult though wouldnt it feeding two at the same time?

I only have one and I remember wishing there was such a thing as a robot which fed the baby !!. I don't know what you mean by self feeding bottles (will google it in a mo) but as whatatip says you do what you can. There were times I propped a bottle too - quite a few actually! I guess its just a case of muddling along however best you can.

Haha! go for it, I never knew they even existed! Good luck!

Oh, I didn't realise self feeding bottles were a special gizmo. Is that what you meant?

I used them from 5 weeks old (Podee) and loved them. Babies seemed to like them too, no milk running down faces and into ears as they have to actually suck quite hard. So convenient for in the car, out shopping or whatever. Felt they kept my sanity! Mine are 7 y o now and a dream - most of the time! Feel free to ask any more questions about the bottles...

Not srue what they are but if you think they'll help you out then go for it.

If I had to do both mine at the same time I used to put them in their bouncy chairs and sit between them and do them both that way.

Is tehre a reason you are expressing rather than feeding from the actual breast as you can do them both at the same time that way - I tried in hospital but a combination of lack of milk and facilities meant it didn't work for us but you can be quite successful if you find the right position - your local bf clinic should be able to help if you want to go down that route.

If you can make the breastfeeding work I found it quite helpful to breastfeed one whilst bottlefeeding the other in his car seat. Or with two bottles, sitting like HoolaHooper with them in their bouncy chairs and me between them. In the blink of an eye they will be holding their own bottles anyway!

I have heard negative things about the Podee, but I don't know if that is just people being judgy who don't know what they are talking about, or whether there is a factual case for it.

Certainly I think people are warned against propping bottles, but I can't say I've never done it - e.g. whilst grabbing a muslin to wipe posset off the other twin's face.
