What double pushchair do you have and can it fit in a normal sized car?

I'm hoping that some of you parents of twins can help me with a pushchair dilemma.

My twin sister and I had babies (one each) a week apart back in September. We spend a lot of time together and often use a double pushchair (Maclaren Twin Traveller). She has a big car so we have no problem getting our double or two single pushchairs in. But my Mum and I often look after her daughter and use the double. She has a 3 door 207 and it's a nightmare to get the double in the boot because it's 116cm long. We've put up with it out of necessity but the babies are now getting really uncomfortable in it and want to get out all the time. They don't mind being in their single pushchairs so it's not that they don't like being strapped in, it's this pushchair in particular.

Do any of you have a pushchair that you think could be suitable? We really don't want a tandem like those Phil and Teds ones, but a side-by-side preferably. I've been looking at the Leebruss Zoom, Phil and Teds E3 side-by-side, iCandy Peach Blossom, iCandy Pear, Baby Jogger City Mini (I don't really like this one though), First Wheels City Elite and Babystyle Lux. But I can't work out whether they would fit in a standard boot and whether the folded dimensions include the seat units or not. We'll be buying it second hand and we're struggling to find places to look at any of these in real life.

I hope someone can give us some advice.

By the way, any of you with twins, triplets, etc. have my absolute respect. I find 10 minutes with two babies on my own difficult and I've only ever managed 4 or 5 hours at a time!

Loved my First Wheels, but it doesn't fit in my hatchback (Nissan Almera). We got a Nipper 360 now the boys are bigger and that does fit quite easily (need to take wheels off, but that is very simple - and remove parcel shelf, which may be more of a pain).

Often the folded sizes seem just to be chassis - also to confuse matters the final shape seems to have a big impact on whether you can fit in your particular car.

Other thought - is the problem just with the seat size in the doubles? I think with all (except some tandems, which I wouldn't like as children get older - must be a nightmare to push) the seats are significantly smaller than they will be used to in their single buggies.

Sorry, not helped much there have I? And I am so jealous of your set-up. 2 babies brought up so much together, but you just need to deal with one most of the time? Sounds lovely.

Its a while since I had my twin pram but I had a Nipper and although I had to remove the parcel shelf, I got it in and out of a Renault Clio's boot no problem - without having to remove the wheels.

I have the icandy pear and it is big. You have to disassemble and reassemble it into its constituent pieces and they take up a lot of room in our boot. The rear seat is quite cramped and I always feel sorry for whoever goes in there.

And also, there is zero room in the storage bit underneath which is a massive drawback.

Ive got the cosatto you2twin puschair and it fits fine in my partners car...which the name of has totally left me!! i swear having kids has rotted my brain ;)

But if you look the pram up it should give you the folded measurements in the description.

By the way - being a twin yourself...you may end up havings twins if you decide to try for another... Grin

Hi ladies, I'm the other twin!

rattling why didn't the firstwheels fit in your nissan boot? Was it too long, wide or just bulky? We both like the look of them and there are quite a few on ebay in our budget.
And you're right, the girls get all the niceness about being close and the same age, but we only have to deal with one at a time, usually! (I'm quite lucky because aswellasyou's DD is BF and my DD is FF so I can't look after them on my own for very long at all, but she can!)

holidays Don't say that! Knowing what the babies are like together I have no idea how you do it and how our mum did it. Shock When I was pg with DD my DP was convinced we were having twins, it turned out I got my dates wrong by 4 weeks, and there was just the one thank god! Blush

The chassis would fit, but the seats were too big as the chassis had to go in at a bit of an angle. I actually could do it if I didn't have a passenger as the pram seats would go in the front seat of the car. Mostly it was just too much of a pain to take apart and rebuild. But it was bloody lovely to walk about with.

My friend had and M&P Pulse Twin for her twins in a Fiesta, so I reckon it would fit in most cars.
