I am 13 wks pg with ID twins. The most ridiculous questions/statements I've heard so far are:

Ooooh identical twins, wouldn't a boy and a girl be fab?! Errrrr, no it would defy science.

OMG, how will you cope? What will you do? Oh well I was planning to pick my favourite and leave the other at the hospital! (clearly not really planning to do this, before anyone calls ss)

Do they run in the family? ID twins aren't hereditary, however, coincidentally, I had an ID twin (this answer always goes into a discussion about how my sister died when we were young but can't seem to avoid it as I don't want to deny her existence)

My favourite was a statement by a girl who has a fraternal twin. "No, you can't be. Twins cannot have twins!" Errrr, clearly they can. She replied: "No, it's definitely true, twins cannot have twins!" Nobody knew what to say - how do you reply to that?!

Oh, here's a good one!

My mother said, "Of course, having twins means it'll be easier for you when they're toddlers, than it would be if you just had one, because when they run off, they'll run off together! So you won't have to worry."

I don't mind all the daft questions and the "double troubles" really and I've noticed it's tailed off a lot now the girls are toddlers (20 months). I was a tad perplexed though by an old lady who said "shame you didn't have a boy/girl, then you could just stop there". Eh?? Also find it annoying when people say they feel sorry for DH having two girls - he honestly could not be a prouder dad!

Try it with triplets.

"Oh my god, I'd kill myself" Please, don't let me stop you.

"Are they natural?" Nope, I had them moulded from silicone especially.

"Did you have fertility?" Which position do you have sex in? Think that's rude? So is what you just asked.

"Are they identical?" No, one doesn't have a willy.

"All boys?" Actually, yes. I was so gutted that I decided I'd dress one in pink. I'm sure he'll cope as he gets older, with the help of a good therapist.

People would also be astounded that I would leave the babies at home with their father. "Oooh, isn't he good looking after them for you?" Er, he's their father, that's why he's doing it, not for me.
