Hi all, wanted as much info as possible from mums of multiples who are using reusable nappies.
I'm due for induction on 4th so dont have much time to ponder.
i'm thinking of buying a birth to potty kit for convienance but want to know exactly what you bought, how much did it cost you and how is it working out?
i assume i'll still need at least one pack of disposables at all times 'just in case' right?
Thanks in advance!

Not a mum of multiples but have nannied for twins and have 2 dc who were in washables.

I found different nappies worked at different times so buying birth to potty does lock you in to one type. Some nappies come in two sizes and the second size starts at 9lbs so when they are still quite small.

Taking nappies for two for a whole day will need a big bag and it will get quite heavy. When I went out for the whole day I use to put a disposable on my dd to go out then put a washable on when I was out this meant if I was out all day I wouldn't have to many heavy nappies to carry.

2 babies doesn't mean you need two birth to potty packs. When you have enough for a load you will properly put them on.

I would either get a birth to potty back or a few nappies from a few different types you like the look of and then see how it goes. As every baby is different depends how often they get poo on the wrap and thing like that.

Every time you use a washable is one less disposable in the bin so every little helps.

Nappies have moved on a lot since my youngest but [[http://www.cheekywipes.com/how-it-works.html these wipes are really good.

Sorry for the ramble hope some of it is useful

i guess with two babies i'll always have alot to carry...something i didnt really consider.

I have 12 month old twins and have used washable nappies for all 6 of my children, not all nappies suit all bums, I have a collection that includes motherease, tots bots, lollipop, minky huggles, prefolds and many more. Also depending on their birthweight you may find even small nappies are too big for a few weeks. If you are anywhere near Derby I have a few smaller ones that you could have too try.I wouls always recomend getting a few different ones to try to anyone before buying a birth to potty pack.

If it helps I have three in nappies at the moment, we just take the less bulky ones out with us and let the pushchair do the carrying.

Thanks, not near derby though :)
Guess i'll have to browse the selection in the shop before i buy anything...

We've got 11 month old twin boys and were lucky enough to be given loads of reusables. They're Bambino Mio which don't seem to get good reviews. I almost certainly would have chosen differently, but they were free Grin! We've bought various wraps so we have enough for both boys as my friend only had 1 child in nappies at a time.

They've worked reasonably well for us, particularly as the boys have gotten bigger. We had lots of leakage issues in the early days and swapped to disposables at night as we were having to do complete sleepsuit / dreampod /sheet changes every night which was a bit of a pain and seemed to defeat the environmental positives of reusables Hmm.

We ran out of disposables last week and the reuasables worked fine overnight. Better fit now or because the boys drink less now, I'm not sure. We have bought more disposables for night tho....

We used reusables with our twins. Those with Velcro ties are as easy as as disposables.

At the time it was easy to buy second hand off ebay which made it quite a bit cheaper. Is that still not allowed?

We have a full complement of various styles if you are near Cambridge?

Hi

I have twin 6 month olds & we have used real nappies since they were about 3 months - they were born at 34 weeks and weighing less that 4lb each so they were really too small for any 2-part nappies. birth to potty is OK if the twins are "standard" baby size, but if smaller it is worth buying small sizes to start with.

we use disposables at night still & if we are out for a whole day - just because I dont fancy carrying a bag of damp nappies around along with everything else we need.

Overall I think I have 6 wraps & about 25 totbots flexitot nappies, some bought from new from a local supplier & some from ebay so I spent about £200 in total on them.

try www.funkymonkeypants.com, have just discovered them & the service is brilliant.

disposables may be helpful for the first few weeks just as it is so manic with a newbaby, let alone with 2!!!

Hi

My 2 boys have been out of nappies for some time now (they are 5) but we had them in washables pretty much from birth to 3. We used bimbles and bumbles from easy peasy nappies - fantastic and made in this country. Had a few tots bots too but they weren't as good IMO. Virtually never leaked though when they got older we put extra stuffing in them at night. Can recommend these without reservation. My sister has them now and uses them for her daughter, she loves them too.
