First off Hello!!!

I have 2 year old ID twins who were born at 33 weeks, im currently 17 weeks pregnant with a 2nd set but this set are boys!! Also have a 3 year old boy too.

Just wondering if anyone else has had more than one set as there doesnt seem to be many of us out there!

Bloody hell. Congratulations! I'm jealous Envy I only have one set Grin

GibberingGinger · 02/12/2010 20:53

Congratulations. Are the sceond set ID too? What are the chance of that!

I think there is a mumsnetter called Ibelieveinfairies who has two sets of twins.

jass77 · 03/12/2010 09:19

Wow congratulations! I've known of 2 families with 2 sets of twins, but neither of them very well. DH used to work with someone who had 2 sets of twins 11 months apart! (The only person in the office unimpressed with our 3 kids in 20 months!)

harrygracejessica · 03/12/2010 15:16

The 2nd set are being classed as non ID as there are 2 sacs but its exactly the same as the girls were in 2 sacs and they are ID. They are even laying the same way as the girls did but these are def boys lol

Me! i have 2 sets. I had 4 singletons and then the 2 sets of twins. They are non-id's..boy/boy (9,9) and boy/girl (6,6). It was triplets but 1 didn't make it very early on in pregnancy.

It's lovely having 2 sets i feel very lucky and it's not so sorry second time round!

Congratulations!!

whatatip · 08/12/2010 20:27

idobelieve.. what was it like second time around? How did it compare to first time for you? I am not expecting but I am very interested as I just thought twins would be overwhelming regardless of whether you had experience with them.

I guess for one thing you were used to the guilt and not being able to immediately meet needs like you could with singletons. And the crying.

harrygracejessica · 08/12/2010 20:33

Ive found its not as scary to take in this time until today when ive been bleeding and cramping and told to rest (with 3 other kids!) so resting as much as possible now.

I know somebody who had twins and then got pregnant the first time she had sex after they were born (they were 4 months) and conceived twins again.

She has the most beautiful and happy family.

Geepers · 08/12/2010 20:44

I had a singleton, then 15 months later i had twins, then 15 months after the twins i had a singleton, and 7 months after the singleton i had a second set of twins. So all in all i had six babies in three years one month.

Geepers · 09/12/2010 10:12

TitianTinselTemptress · 09/12/2010 11:07

I once worked for a woman who had 3 sets in 3 years (and was only 22 when she had no 5+6), all boys.
she has what jjkm describes.

whatatip · 10/12/2010 11:02

How do they know though, that you always or nearly always release two eggs.

Do they look into it once someone has conceived twins twice?

reallywoundup · 10/12/2010 11:21

i have two sets too, but i'm not your average 'twin mummy', second set was faaaaar easier than the first (they are 20 months apart btw) now that they are 7&5 they are a nightmare dream Xmas Wink because four is a great number for playing games and football.

Have to say though i didn't leave the house much until ds 1&2 were at preschool, double pram with 2 buggyboards wasn't the easiest way to manouver!

Mine are all boys, i then went on to have dd who's 2 (who as a sigleton scared the bejesus out of me because it was down to me to entertain her all the time, the boys used to stare at each other for hours!) set one born at 36 weeks, set two born at 34+4 weeks.

Good luck, its hard to start with, but the older they get, the easier it gets

This thread has made me feel exhausted.

BikeRunSki · 12/12/2010 22:53

I met a family on a train once with three sets of twins!

harrygracejessica · 14/12/2010 11:04

my g/g twins were born at 33 weeks so im hoping these two hold on a bit longer than that!

Hatterbox · 16/02/2011 11:07

I'm 9 weeks pregnant, and having had a private scan at 8 weeks, discovered I'm expecting my second set of twins.

I have a DS born Dec 06, ID twin DDs born July 08 and my EDD is 15 Sep 11.

It has come as a huge shock, as I'm a non-ID twin myself, so I never thought I'd have one set, let alone two.

My DH and I are now really pleased we decided to leave a bigger gap this time round.

CherryPie3 · 16/02/2011 12:34

There's a lady that lives near me who had a singleton baby, then twins a year later, then triplets the year after that! The odds of that happening are astronomical!!!

kathryn2804 · 16/02/2011 22:15

I know two lots of mulitple multiple mums at Harrow Twins Club

One had a singleton, id twin girls and then fraternal twin boys

The other had fraternal boys, singleton and is expecting another set of fraternal twins, sex unknown!

harrygracejessica · 17/02/2011 19:28

Hatterbox i really didnt think it would happen again - even those these monkeys werent planned anyway lol Im now 28 weeks and the consultant said yesterday it looks doubtful ill get as far as I did with the girls so its just a waiting game now!

We've got two sets of twins (non ID boys 3yo plus non ID girls 5 months).

Early days but so far girl twins are proving a lot easier than boy twins - I suspect mainly because we have some notion of what we are doing, unlike first time around Grin.
