Advice needed on Weaning 6 month Twins

Hi,
I have just started weaning my b/g DT's.
I have only been giving them a small amount of baby porridge which they have taken to quite well.

At the moment they have 5 8oz bottles a day plus about 2oz of porridge at lunchtime.

I feed them one after the other as i could not grasp doing them together and they were sick as could not wind them quick enough.

What routine did you all get into with weaning?

I have a two year old as well and i am worried that she is going to get less time then she already does when the feeding steps up.
Weaning by DD seems a bit of a blur and can't remember how i even went about it. Blush

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you thought about Baby Led Weaning? If you google it your find lots of info about the details of how to go about it.

I used this approach with my twins and it worked very well. I breastfed my twins one at a time as I couldn't get a good latch simultaneously after they were about 9 weeks old and I always felt so guilty that usually one was screaming for a fed as I was still feeding whoever went first. BLW was great as no one has to wait! The basic approach is that you skip spoon feeding purees and go straight to finger foods. The rule is if they can pick it up it is ok for them to eat so you just put the food on their high chair tray and off they go at their own pace! Usually BLW kids move onto eating the normal family dinner much faster but until then you can just have them eat their dinner at the same time as your DD (she can practice showing them good table manners!) Keep milk feeds and real food to separate times and as you up one the other will just naturally drop off over time. The BLW website is great with lots of advice and receipes. Good Luck!

I did blw too with my b/g dts (had 2yo at the time) and it worked brilliantly. Much less hassle for me, ds2 could help feed them by flinging food on their trays. I was anxious about the time with ds2 as well, so essentially all 3 had the same thing as time went on (e.g. houmous, carrot sticks, bits of pitta bread, cheese). I did large trays of roasted veg every couple of days and then warmed it as I needed it. Highlight was beef stir fry, I thought ds3 (twin1) was going to explode he was so happy (about 9-10 months). There is a recipe on BLW for porridge pancakes which is um, interesting!
But if you want to do purees, most of the twin mums I know just have one bowl and one spoon, alternate mouthfuls. Give them a spoon each as well. Would you find it easier to give them solids at dinner time to start with when dh might be home to help?

Thanks for the advice. Will look up baby led weaning, might be the way to go. It's not too bad so far as i feed them about 45mins to an hour apart.

I am find the glares when they watch me eat very funny as i think if they could they would jump up and grab my food off me! lol
