Twins coming soon.....

My partner is due to give birth to our twins any day now, and I'm absolutely terrified for her and have been worried that things will go wrong in the hospital and that she or the babes will die during labor. You hear of these things, but think it won't happen to you.

Also I don't feel ready for the sleepless nights again, we already have a 2.5 year old who's fantastic at sleeping now but it took 2 years to get there. Don't feel I can go through all that again and stay sane. Some kind words would be appreciated, thank you Smile

She needs you to be strong for her and optimistic about the amazing journey you are about to embark on TOGETHER... You have to focus on the positive...the negative achieves nothing for anyone...enjoy the wonder that is bringing not one but TWO new lives into the world and feel very very blessed...all change is daunting and challenging but can often mark the most amazing times of our lives.

The sleepless night are hard, but it is such a relatively tiny period in a lifetime for two more human beings...

You have more than many could have in their wildest dreams. Enjoy, be proud, be brave and have a wonderful time as your family embarks on this amazing new chapter...

Wishing you lots of happiness and luck. Smile

Hi Astragirl, you will get through this and look back and see you and your dp managed and actually enjoyed it! Honest! Grin

I have a toddler(age2.2) and 9 month twins and I was panicking that I wouldn't cope as have had no outside help and a dp who works 11 hr days, but you do because there are these beautiful, helpless babies looking to you to be strong and loving. It is hard but once you get past the sleep deprivation and they start to smile it is wonderful.

Now my dts are interacting together and my dd1 can play with them as well (she loves playing peek-a-boo with them as she makes them roar with laughterSmile) its great and I can actually drink a cup of coffee while its still hot!!

With regards to the pregnancy if she's due any day now I would guess she's past the point of having them very early, which as LL said, thats usually where the danger is and the hospital would say if they thought there was any thing that could go wrong. Twin births are more closely monitored so try not to worry.
I had an emcs at 35 wks and was still home after 10 days and had no need for nicu. Just try and focus on the postives, honestly there are so many more than the what if's!!

Good luck!

Hi astragirl,

My dd was 2 when I had my twins (also girls) and i found the whole birth/stay in hospital bit much better than when I'd had my first dd - twin deliveries are very closely monitored, and you'll find hospital staff will be very geared up to help you both after the birth.

The only advice I can give you is try and get the babies in a routine as soon as possible, I was worried that dd1 would get overlooked so having a bit of a timetable for feeding/sleeping etc for the babies (fortunately they co-operated!) meant I could plan small chunks of time during the day to concentrate on her. Took a few weeks to get there, but get there we did.

Positive thoughts! Twins are fab, I've never regretted a minute with mine and feel blessed to have them. Just take one day at a time (bit of a cliche but true) and enjoy your gorgeous children. Smile

Thank you all of you for taking the time to reply. I feel a bit more positive this week, thanks to your messages and talking with other people. It's going to be hard the first few years but it will be worth it & I know things will change once I see them. I'm sure I'll be on the multiples thread a lot shortly, so hope to see you there. Smile
