ID twins about to start pre school - how can I help teachers tell them apart?

Hi,

My ID twins girls are starting pre school on Tuesday.
They need to wear a uniform so will of course look exactly the same.

Has anyone got any tips on how I can help the teachers to tell who is who in the early days. There are very few people outside close family who can ever tell them apart so I don't hold out much hope of the teachers getting it...until maybe the end of the year. Hmm

I use hairstyles for my ID girls - one has a ponytail and one has a bob, is this an option for you?

Interesting article in the Times last weekend about a mum striving to encourage her ID boys individuals. Haircuts featured a lot.

Hi,

didn't think of that - thanks.
I guess I could do their hair differently and just tell the teachers at the beginning of each day who is who.
I was having visions of them having to wear name badges or something!

there was an article linked the other day about ID quads starting school.

they had to have their initial written on their shirt collar, to help the teacher out Grin

How do you tell them apart? In the past I have taught id twins and various ways have included;

hair flicked to right/left
one always kept jumper on and the other used to take his off... not good on very cold or very hot days!
headbands with names on (they used to swap if they were in trouble..)
one had a little scar on her lip
ATM one has a freckle in a certain place on her nose and the other doesn't

When I was teaching we had identical quads in Yr 7, it was a flipping nightmare. 2 had short hair, 2 had long, otherwise like peas in a pod, they even all wore the same style of glasses. It was a nightmare and if I saw one in the corridor I'd smile and say hello in case she was the one in my French set.

How about different colour Alice bands / hair bands? Always keeping their 'own' colour?

Won't they have different shoes?

Chocamochalatte · 15/09/2010 22:46

Tlm - I feel it's a bit insensitive to say it was "a nightmare" I can understand how it would be difficult having identical DTs myself, but being called a nightmare is rather mean Sad

My boys had different shoes. Hairstyles harder with boys!
