Hi, I live kind of between Nottingham and Derby and I have two little girls aged one and four. I am white and my husband is black and we live in a REALLY white area and my children don't know many people who aren't white. My oldest is really starting to notice and talk about it. She has been known to point to black men on the street and shout 'DADDY!' which is obviously very embarrassing! She is not the most confident child and it would be fantastic for her to meet some other children who are not white. She met a little girl in IKEA nearly a year ago now and she is still talking about it and is really excited if she meets anyone with curly hair. Nottingham and Derby are both very multi-cultural places but you can't really go up to people and ask to be their friend - I know as I have actually tried....

Hi Savoycabbage

I live in Notts and have 3 children. I would be up for meeting.

ShellySara · 14/08/2008 22:13

Hello,

I have a little brown baby girl, and we dont really know any kiddies. We are in Burton which is south of Derby, and I regularly go into Derby town centre just for a wander.

If you still have not found anyone for her to share a juice with, then give me a shout.

Take care
Shelly

HI SC, I live in notts. DD a lot younger that yours - 10 weeks, would be up for meeting for a chai/smoothie/lassi/shake/babychino/frappachino

nottsmum3 · 17/08/2008 11:18

Hi twoboots and Sc

I have a 14 week old baby and would be up for a meeting. Whereabouts do you live Twoboots?

savoycabbage · 17/08/2008 11:21

Wow! Hello, I haven't looked at this thread for a while as NOTHING was happening......my 22 month old is going to love all of these babies!

I live in NG3. John Lewis caf is quite baby friendly, what do you think guys? Bit bland and pricey though.

savoycabbage · 19/08/2008 11:49

Yes, I still go there though! Everybody there seems to have a baby. It really annoys me though that the children's plates don't fit on the highchair trays. Your babies won't care about that though!

I also live in NG3. John Lewis cafe is ok with me. Shall we try and arrange something for the next few weeks?

pinkmagic1 · 21/08/2008 22:24

Sorry, been off-line for a couple of months now but back up and running. Would love to join you if thats OK?

minorbird · 23/08/2008 23:21

Hey there, I'm really late to this thread but I have a mixed race little girl 3 and a half and I'm about 4 miles from heanor!

pinkmagic1 · 24/08/2008 22:00

So when is best for everyone? Afternoons, except Fridays are better for me as my DS starts mornings at school in September.

twoboots · 28/08/2008 09:12

how about thursday 11th @ around 11?

savoycabbage · 28/08/2008 20:12

I can't meet up the week starting Monday the 8th of September because we are going away that week. Then my oldest starts school on Tuesday 16th September so will be busy that day with that. I am free the rest of the time though.

Hi Everyone

How about meeting on Monday 22nd around 11ish?

pinkmagic1 · 03/09/2008 16:29

Afternoon would be better 4 me as my DS has just started mornings at school. Could make it at 12.30pm.

savoycabbage · 04/09/2008 08:33

That would be fine for us. The 22nd at 12.30.

My oldest will be at school then though and it is her that I was thinking about when I started this thread as she is asking questions about why she is not white like me. She almost passes out when she sees another child with curly hair.

twoboots · 04/09/2008 21:39

i'm fine at that time, i've suggested john lewis restaurant, but its pretty bland. shame about savoy's dd, maybe we could decide an after school meet up another time.

nottsmum3 · 09/09/2008 18:54

I'm ok to meet at 12.30 at John Lewis resaurant. Look forwrad to meeting you all then.

pinkmagic1 · 09/09/2008 22:01

savoycabbage · 20/09/2008 10:17
