Hi there. My Pakistani ex had threatened to abduct children. He recently told them he will apply for Pakistani passports. I'm scared he will take them there. Help me

please contact the reunite helpline for advice. They are the best people to advise you.

Have and they agree with my concerns but beside that not much they can do at present. Have been trying to find solicitors who would fight for us but so far not much luck unless you are loaded with cash

How old are the children? If 5+ they can be told clearly that if their father ever takes them to the airport they need to tell the staff in uniform that mummy doesn't want them to go, that they need to speak to the police. Plenty of possible abductions are stopped at border control

You need to apply for a prohibited steps order as the first step. There may be some way to flag their names so they'll be stopped at passport control. There's a legal subforum on here were you could ask for general advice to.
www.gov.uk/government/publications/form-c100-application-under-the-children-act-1989-for-a-child-arrangements-prohibited-steps-specific-issue-section-8-order-or-to-vary-or-discharge#:~:text=Form-,Apply%20for%20a%20court%20order%20to%20make%20arrangements%20for%20a,be%20able%20to%20apply%20online.
These people offer a free initial consultation, don't know where you are but if you google local law firms in your area there might be someone who does the same. There are also some firms that will answer basic questions online.

This can be difficult to prevent because it is so easy to buy Pakistan passports on the black market, but hopefully your ex doesn’t know that. You need to get an UK order that the children can’t travel on UK passports, and persuade the Pakistan Embassy in UK not to issue any passports to the children.

  1. Speak to a family solicitor who has experience in international child abduction, from google I found these guys who might be a good first call: www.jmw.co.uk/services-for-you/family-law/international-children-law/international-child-abduction
  2. Contact Pakistan’s Embassy in the UK, it’s number is 02076649200 and it’s emergency number is 07733 220 871. Ask them not to issue a passport to your children, if the other parent makes an application. They do not have to do agree to do this, but they may do so voluntarily. Follow up the phone call with a letter from you or your lawyer, their address is 34-36 Lowndes
Square London
SW1X 9JN
  3. Call the UK police non-urgent number on 101, tell them your ex is threatening to abduct your children and take them permanently to Pakistan, that this is a criminal offence and that you need to speak to a Child Protection Officer or Public Protection Officer.
  4. Warn the children’s school of the abduction risk and get your children listed as only to be collected by you.
  5. Consider getting a local religious leader (or someone else who your ex respects) to tell him that this action would be a criminal offence and he would go to prison (and hell) if he does it.

Some more information here www.gov.uk/guidance/international-parental-child-abduction#preventing-parental-child-abduction and here www.gov.uk/government/publications/pakistan-child-abduction/pakistan-child-abduction

Good luck!
