Taking Newborn Baby To See Paternal Family In Sweden. What To Pack?

Hello Mums,

I am having a dd in April. ASAP after she is born we want to take her to see dh's family in Sweden for a couple of weeks. Her mormor (grandmother) in Sweden is very exited to meet her and so are dh siblings and cousins.

Only problem is I am not sure how much to pack and what things I will need to take. Can you lovely ladies (and daddies too Grin) help me decide what to pack and how much. Would be much appreciated.

Smile

I can't really advise on what to pack, mine's old enough to pack (and travel) by herself. But whatever it is remember the mantra when travelling that "they have babies there as well". So whatever you discover you need that you forgot should be easily replaced. Smile

I would be taking more things for me tbh. Nipple cream, comfortable bras! A sling might be good. Nappy bag with travel change mat. Don't underestimate tiredness, travel plans might need to be a bit flexible.

I have done this trip plenty of times (hejsan) and think i have nailed it;)

Pack with care for the flight such as extra bottles and formula if not bf, spare wipes, nappies and clothes (note: for -you both). Id also pack some snacks for yourself, breakfast bars were my personal favourite.

A couple of large muslins or babys usual blanket (comfort as well as cover, flights can be chilly for newborns). These will easily double up to wipe spit up (be prepared for plenty).
Also remember to pack in a bag that you can easily reach things in, i found my normal nappy bag superb for this. A normal cabin bag is pretty useless whilst rocking a newborn.
With regards to what you need in sweden, everything here can essentially be bought there so I really wouldnt worry.

Oh and you will be fine, my mantra through gritted teeth has always been "90 minutes, 90 minutes" and it will - fly by (excuse the pun).
