as its my cousins DD and she had tried everything on her dry hair to make it wrinklets (sp?) (curly)

once she did her DD's hair all lovely for a party with all the curls coming down and within the hour her hair gone back to a big afro style again!

its seems to be her hair absorbed oil - and anything!!

what can she put on her DD's hair pls?

there is a product called Purlene that is excellent on afro hair, only available in black hair shops or some asian shops.

biglips · 22/06/2006 21:28

what is purlene? is it shampoo, con etc and is it suitable for a 4 yrs old?

Hi Biglips - I live with this every day

DD is 8 and her hair looks spectacular just after washing for about an hour

Currently I use the Purple Frizz ease serum which seems to give quite good curl definition

I then use a dream curls (frizz ease again) each day

I'm using thier shampoo and conditioner atm - but I don't think much of the conditioner

I was using Urban Therapy stuff which was as good as the frizz ease (and quite a bit cheaper) but they don't sell it round here

It is so frustrating

biglips · 22/06/2006 21:38

i remember that she told me that she had put plenty of frizz-ease on and an hour later it back to a big afro again! (and my aunty said that she had put a whole bottle of it her hair and no luck!!)

have you gotta put purple frizz ease serum AND dream curls both on every day?

The white bottle serum is no good for my DD - it has to be the purple for her

I use the serum every other day & the dream curls everyday (sometimes twice a day)

I really struggle with DD's hair

& if you find anything better let me know (please....I get desparate)

Katymac · 22/06/2006 21:47

It tends to look "OK" rather than fabulous

I wish it looked fab - but I haven't "found" the right product yet

I think Motions is my next to try (when I've used what I have now)

I spend an absolute fortune on hair stuff (prob over £75 since Christmas)

blimey must be hard work too

I honestly don't know

Her hair is very different to her cousins

I don't know how much the lack of knowledge of the parent (ie me, as a white mother)

do mixed race children of black mother white father have the same problems as those of white mother/black father?

I do feel very ignorant with regard to DD's hair and would love to understand it better

biglips · 22/06/2006 21:58

hhhmmmm!. i think ill google it as im really curious now and see if i can find summat about it and ill let you know if i find anything!! probably wont find anything

good luck!!

Please do - I'll try anything

Her hair is either crunchy, oily, frizzy in the extreme - it really frustrates her & me
