Mixed Race Hair....I'm so frustrated!

I started using Just for Me Hair Moisturizing Conditioner on DD's hair and I like it

Then I couldn't get it for ages and I tried lots of others - I finally decided I like Twisted Sista hair stuff and Asda take it off the shelves and the company website is 2 yrs out of date

Can anyone suggest something similar to the Twisted Sista stuff, 'cos it makes DD's hair really soft and it's not sticky at all

Help please?

I use Soft & Precious Moisturising Creme for extra dry hair. I buy it when I am in Lewisham (live in Kent).

My sil uses something called babylove.

waterfalls · 29/03/2006 13:22

Would brylcreem (sp) help.

Katymac · 29/03/2006 22:23

Thanks for the ideas - I'll have a look

It's such a shame I love the twisted sista stuff

Hi
My daughter has quite dry long mixed race hair. I found it really diffiucult to keep soft but I found a product called Better Braids. Its a spray that is supposed to be sprayed on to braids...obviously! However, I spray a little on my daughters hair and keeps soft without getting sticky. Has no strong smell either. Cos I only use a bit a bottle lasts AGES! It only cost 2.99 from the local checmist that stock a small amount of Afro hair products.

Can anybody recommend a good hairdresser for my daughter who has mixed race hair. She is 15 and would like it straightened. I obviously want a reputable one. Many thanks

My dd doesn't wash her conditioner out so she keeps the curls in shape and her hair doesn't frizz - there's never any stickyness and her hair's lovely and soft.
Twisted Sista is stocked by Boots too, have you tried them?

Sometimes it's not worth getting really expensive hair preparations - I always used to use Wilko's own Henna shampoo and conditioner - very successfully. DD chooses her own now and goes for brands that won't look amiss in her sleepover bag!!!

Found this - hope it works.

Kids Organics is the only thing that works for my dratted hair, but (soothing advertising voice) it does 'lock' in the moisture, leaving my curls defined and bouncy!!!!!! Grin

Anyone have any idea what I could use on my mixed race daugther's hair? She's 8 months old and her hair is growing. Would it be best to keep using olive oil?

all4girlz · 29/06/2006 21:13

I use tea tree oil conditioner in a spray bottle mixed with water 50 /50 ish
when plaiting dd3's hair for school and every day to stop her hair frizzing works ok but will be checking out some of the ideas here thanks

MarsLady · 29/06/2006 21:18

Bloody hell katymac this is a blooming nightmare. I'll call my friend who is a hairdresser and has mixed dds herself and see if she can get a job lot.

I do hope you get this sorted. Grrrrrrrrrr (at the situation not you)

MarsLady · 29/06/2006 21:19

so clearly I only read the op and not even the date

Katymac · 29/06/2006 21:21

S'OK Mars I bought lots of Twisted Sista when Asda discontinued it

I alternate with that and Frizzease (the purple one) & we seem to be going......OK (ish)

atm......but it may change at any time

good news katymac!

My friend and her dh are going to send you some product free and they said to let you know that you'll be able to get it in Superdrug from mid September. Only 50 (or was it 350) ASDA stores will be stocking it from then as well.

Can I pass on your address? They are lovely people who won't then add you to any mailing list etc.

Katymac · 03/07/2006 06:46

Awww Thanks Mars.....that is kind of you/them

Superdrug here I come .....now where is that shop???? (I'm joking I think there is one in Yarmouth )

& I can guarantee it won't be an asda near here

BTW one of my mindees mum's invited us round yesterday and braided DD's hair - she looks so cute

I need to learn how to do it - it look so cool for summer.....do you think her "parts" will get sun burnt?

OP posts:
MarsLady · 04/07/2006 08:11

Shouldn't get burnt, but you can always rub some sun lotion into the partings. I do!

Better find your address and pass it on.

Katymac · 04/07/2006 11:01

Thanks I'm very nervous - it's her trial at the new school today....she's really excited
