Child Tax Credits

I'm so confused by this tax credits malarky!

I have recently renewed my tax credits, sent it back off the day i got received it.(3rd June)
I crossed the box that i had to declare a change, rung them up and told them i had changed my working hours from 30 to 20 hours. (7th June)

I was lookin through some of the threads on here, and stumbled along one that you can disregard the £100 per week of maternity pay (so for me £3900). I rung the next morning (10th) to be told they still hadnt processed my renewal form and to ring back beginning of next week.
So i rung again (15th) and they'd updated my details so told them i hadn't disregarded that amount and asked them to amend my details, which they did,and also altered my predicted earnings for 2010/11

Now this morning i have received 2 letters that state they are my Provisional reward? Will this be because i amended my working hours? Thats the only change i can see on the letter. The earnings are the ones that i estimated when i had my daughter last July!

Also if anyone could help, which year do they use to calculate my this years award, because i over estimated 08/09 income and think i'm due a underpayment. I'll pop underneath what i earnt 08/09 and 09/10.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as i'm totally confused about it all now, althought i'm sure they do it on purpose lol
Also if anyone knows roughly how I'd get if i am due an underpayment, you'd be a star The lady didnt state whether i would get anythin back when i rung!

Many Thanks in advance!

Estimated Earnings for 08/09 Me: £14,000, Partner: £20,000
Total £34,000
Actual Earnings for 08/09 Me: £13,038, Partner: £18,300
Total :31,338

Earnings for 09/10 Me : £8495-£3900(SMP)= 4595, Partner: £24,044
Total :£28639

The CTC calculations are notoriously difficult to work out. If I were you, I would put everything you've just explained down very clearly on a letter to the CTC people, keep a copy for yourself, and then follow up with phone-calls. It's better than relying on verbal information alone. Good luck

Just to please you even more, you do realise like many of us, they are about to be axed for any familes earning over 30k, or possibly even 25k

so to be bht blunt you are fecked either way!

I would wait until Tuesday see if he brings it in immediately, might be next April for logistics, but you will defo lose it.

Also just to answer your question directly, the banding is huge (until Tuesday)

between 10k and 58k, you get exactly the same.

When I gave up my 25k a year job to be a FT Parent, Tax credits stayed exactly the same.

£42 a month, we got £42 a month when we pulled in £45 between us

18k and 58k I meant
