Help! How long will it take for a mortgage application to be processed?

Before we put our house on the market we consulted an advisor about getting a mortgage. All was hunky dory - he found us a really good deal etc. Last thing he said was 'go and find yourself a new house'. So we did. And sold this one. And now the bugger appears to have disappeared off the face of the earth! Doesn't answer his phone or blackberry, or respond to messages. Ive now e-mailed him. I know he's probably busy etc etc but I'm getting antsy now.

The agent reckoned that all being we could move towards the end of July - but not if the mortgage isn't sorted.

How long will it take once we do manage to get hold of our elusive money man?

You should have an offer if all is okay within 2-3 weeks.

Thanks. That should be OK then.

After I sent him an email DH got home and told me he's spoken to the man and we were seeing him this evening .

Do you really want to carry on dealing with someone that does a disappearing act? He may have found you a great deal but he doesn't sound very reliable. A fiver says that the great deal has expired when you talk to him

Who do you bank with? Only we have all our accounts with first direct and got a mortgage approval from them in 20 minutes. Could not believe how easy it was. Fee free offset base tracker. Seems like a good deal to us.

You might get an agreement in principle in 20 minutes but a mortgage offer if you are buying another house will be 2-3 weeks as usually the underwriters will want payslips bank ststements, surveyors reports etc.
If you have plenty of equity in your property there are lots of good deals out there.
