a site that helps you sort out your debt?

A couple of years ago I received some good advice here and was advised to use an online site that helped you work out income and outgoings and the end reult produced a letter you could send off to the people you owed money to, telling them what you could afford to pay - reduce the repayments iyswim.
The site was very good to use, the problem is I can't for the life of me recall the name of it. I'd like to pass this on to a friend of mine who has big problems, so I was hoping that someone here would know what I'm talking about and know the name of the site?

Also, does anyone know if a wife can sort out her debt without her DH finding out? So far, any 'solutions' she has come across involve her dh being informed.

This may not be the same one, but is a very well respected charity.

Thanks
It's not the same one unfortunately and I've just had a quick read through and they prefer to deal with both husband and wife jointly - so it's not an option for my friend

have you tried Payplan we are dealing with them at the moment and they sound like what you're after

I've made a note of that and will pass it on to her - thanks.
It's not the same one though. The one I used allowed me to go through a number of steps online, filling in the details of income and all debt. It included allowances for for living (hairdresser, school trips, recreation etc) and the end result was a recommendation of course of action. It provided a letter to print out and send off stating the amount you were offering to pay. It was great for me as the letter worked and my payments were reduced (and interest removed) there were no phone calls involved, it was all done simply online.

Was it this? www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

If she wants to use a forum for advice the Motley Fool debt board is good.

CCCS or national debtline - bloody excellent charities.

Please never pay for debt advice

Also if you haven't already seen it, look at www.moneysavingexpert.com - some great advice on there and nice supportive forums as well.
