Hi
I'd appreciate some help as Im really worried about this letter that I recieved.
The letter says
we need to see you to discuss a query that has arisen concerning your claim to benefit. It is essential that you attend this interview. If you do not it may affect your benefit.
Then says time and place of interview and a list of thngs to take to prove identification such as passport, driving licence, utility bill, rent agreement, bank statement etc bearing name and address
Yours Sincerely
Customer Compliance Support

Do I need to take everything on the list?
I am a single mum to 2 girls aged 3 and 1 me and their dad split in november but got baick together in feb but he is not living with me as I am not ready for that again yet. He does not support me financially apart from the £20 week child maintenance he gives and sometimes he will pick up nappies etc for the girls. He comes over everyday from work but leaves after girls have gone bed.
My concern is that I never got his name took off bank account he gave me his card when he left and has no access to the account will they see this as us being a couple?
Any advice much appreciated?

No idea to be honest but the list of documents is just to help prove your identity so take as many as you can but maybe withhold the bank statement if it still has both names on it.
If your very recently separated with two little ones your finances are bound to still be a bit mixed up.
Just be as honest as you can and try not to worry.
Sorry not to be more help.

i had the same in November last yeah. i went for my interview and the man i spoke to said i had been called in as someone had reported me for having my partner live with me. He does not live with me but stayed at mine a few nights a week.

the customer compliance man said this is classed as living together and my partner either had to move in or never stay again.

does your partner stay at yours? if he does that is probably what the interview is about. i dont mean to freak you out but take everything you can and be prepared for lots of talk about fraud and him not bein able to stay.

They will treat you as a couple for benefits purposes if he stays at your house for at least a few nights a week, if you eat together, share a bedroom, share household tasks etc. You can explain the issue about the bank account but even if you are not living together all the time they can still treat you as being a couple.

Be completely honest at the interview and don't even think about hiding anything. If they treat a benefit overpayment as fraud it can have serious consequences. If it's an interview under caution they will be taping the interview too so be prepared.

Get advice from a money advice agency beforehand and if you want to you can take a friend/relative for moral support (contact the jobcentre before the interview to let them know).

Take all the paperwork they've asked for - they probably know which bank accounts you've got already.

Good luck
