Hi there,
We have a crdit card that was for emergencies. Well we had one and now there is about £900 on it. Paying lots of interest etc.

This is officlaly DHs credit card, I have never had one. Our crdit rating isn;t greate but should be ok.

How do we transfer balance to a o% thingy? Cos my Mum reckons you'd have to pay one off with cash or somthing...

Really don;t understand but reckon we;re missing a trick.

All help appreciated

which card have you got?

At the moment athere are some good deals going on balance transfers. i.e the debt you have with your old card gets transferred to a new card and you don't pay interest for so many months. There is a fee for doing it though. around 2.5% - 3 % of the debt but this is still worth doing.

Try going on virgin or barclaycard. Look on moneysavingexpert for the best balance transfer deals. You apply on line. You put the details of the old debt down and then the nedw card arrives with the debt already moved over to the new one. Cut the old one up, or leave it without any balance and then get paying the new one off as fast as possible Some do an interest free period for a year or more, this givew you the opportunity to pay as much off as possible. Once that card deal has ended, you move whatever is left to another new card or the old one may be doing a deal again so you can transfer it back.

hope this makes sense.

It is the easiest and quickets way to pay debts as the interest on credit cards is very high.

Once you've transfered the debt to a new card, remember to call your old credit card company and cancel your account. Otherwise you can have credit cards lying dormant on your credit score which might not help in the future when applying for credit/mortgages.
