Changing from contribution-based JSA to income-based JSA

Could anyone who is a benefits advisor or who experience of this advise me please?

Dp was made redundant at the end of last year and I was made redundant earlier in the year. I was on IS until he moved in when we made the joint (partnered?) claim for JSA. He has been signing on for the last 6 months and getting contribution based JSA with the income based top up for me. His CB JSA runs out in a few weeks, they have given him a form to fill out to get it changed over to IBJSA but it's huge. It looks like the same one as you get when you 1st sign on. Is this right? All we are doing is changing from CB & IB to fully IB. Is there another, simpler, form they should have given us?

Also, will it cause (yet another) break in the claim? It is saying that we need to take all proofs of id, income, bank statements etc etc.

Will we have to have another 90 minute long interview and assessment like we did last time? As that is how it appears from looking at the form.

Sorry for being so dense and sceptical but we haven't had more than 2 payments in a row without there being a break because someone somewhere has made a mistake or has not processed the information correctly. We have a complaint with the Independent Case Examiner as the claim has been messed up so severely over hte past 6 months.

Thanks for looking.

Seems odd to me, DP was unemployed for a bit last year and when the his/our claim moved from contribution based to income based we didn?t do anything, a letter just came through the post telling us that he type of JSA being claimed was changing to income based.
I would call up and check with someone else.
Good luck with job hunting, fingers crossed you won?t have to be on it too long..

Thanks, he had to sign on today (although got there to be told there was no signing today as everyone is on strike - fantastic, we've both been made redundant, but we still worked our arses off (in my case, well above and beyond my job description & hours)), but hey ho. Spoke to a few people on the front desk and they all said the form was correct & it should be all done in 5-10 days so shouldn't hold up the claim. We'll see.

I wonder why it's different for some than it is for others.

There won't be a break in the claim, nothing should change but as the rules about how certain types of income are treated are slighly different between JSA Contribution based & income based (only occupational pensions as I recall) they'll want to do a review.
Good luck XX

In my old office (was an advisor) we used to use the JSA4RR form (much skinnier and easier) for these - but I think different offices do it differently. I know it's easy for me to say, but it's ever such a straightforward changeover and it's good that they noticed your 182 days of CB was up. I've known lots of cases where it was over looked until people noticed the money stopped....it's not good is it?
