Investing your child's CTF voucher

I work for a company that provides a free online search for people to find an independent financial adviser in their area ? www.unbiased.co.uk .

We recently did some research and found the nation is wasting £63 million by not taking advantage of the tax breaks in child trust funds ? and that only ¾ or parents are opening these accounts at all! You can search on google and find somewhere to put your child?s voucher ? if you aren?t planning to add any further funds this may be OK and is certainly better than not using this free voucher from the government. But if you want to pay into your child?s fund regularly and build them up a nest egg for the future an IFA might be the right way to go.

I?m ashamed to say when I had my DS it took 9 months to get round to opening one for him ? imagine all those wasted months of potential growth? Anyone else out there with voucher they haven?t got round to opening an account with coz they are too busy?

Opened an account just for the sake of cashing it, my sons can have that when they are 18.

I have separate savings accounts for them in my name so that I have control of the money, I do not want an 18 year old having access to thousands of pounds of money I have saved to provide for either university, or money toward a house etc.

Whilst some 18 year olds are sensible there are others who are not so sensible
