(namechanger for now)
It has just been strongly hinted at that my husband is soon to be made redundant. He has worked there just shy of three years so I know it will be two weeks pay.
I am a SAHM with four young children.

We don't know where to start looking at what we would be able to claim and what effect they have on each other. Our insurance nearly covers the mortgage payments. We are also lucky that the children have a trust fund that pays for shoes, school dinners etc.
I don't know if that trust fund would make a difference to what we claim.
Where do we start? What does my husband do? Is it JSA? He is very happy to work.
I have no idea. Please help

Job centre will sort you out with everything you can claim for, however they wont process anything until your DH has actually lost his job.
It might be worth giving them a ring.

Sorry to hear about his job though, hope it all works out.

To start it's contribution-based JSA.

Your child credits might also increase, so inform the Tax Credit Office immediately if he is made redundant and remind them on the day he stops working.

The trust fund might affect what you are entitled to in the future, as it is an asset, all assets must be reported, and if they total over £6000 they can have an effect on things like income-based JSA (which is if you are out of work beyond 6 months).

So, JSA and tax credits.
