Hello, i don't know if i am on the right thread, i hope so.

Does anyone know how the CSA work's? my husband has a 10year old daughter from a previous relationship and recieved a letter about it today.

We are both very worried and don't know what to exspect or what the CSA take into concideration when working out the payments.

please any advice would be really appreciated.

not sure if they will put him on the old system or new system.

old system they will take into account ni contributions, tax, pension and the interest part of your mortgage, they may half it as they see it as you are able to make contributions to the mortgage as well. (usually they dont and he is not under any duty to let them know whether or not you are working). on teh first "new system" they will take 15% of his net wage and take nothing into account. on the "propose new system" (not sure if they are using this yet) they will take 12% of his gross income. Depending on how long they have been separated they will seek for him to extra payments towards his arrears. sorry to be so vague but it all really depends which method they use, my ds is on the old system still.

He was on the old system but was told today she had canclled it and started a new one, my husband does well for money but unfortunetly it took a long hard battle which resulted in a lot of debt we are trying to get on top off, and thaat with out morgage it is impossible to pay what they are asking for, we also have 2 children.

it is so unfair but they only knock off a couple of percent of his wage and then take the 15%/12%. Me and my husband have been through the whole thing and the CSA are a nightmare!!
