Bank charges over christmas

Do I have a case for complaining about being charged for three days for being overdrawn from 24/12/2009 - 26/12/2009?

It's not so much that I have been charged full stop [although obviously annoyed about that] it's more that they charged me over christmas, when I believe they were shut. I have possibly been over my limit once in the last 5 years, and I put it right straight away. So before I contact my bank, do I have a case or am I wasting my time?

That's what I was wondering- my problem, which [slaps head for not mentioning it] is that I do most of my banking online, which is why I'm wondering if I would have a case?

you could have sorted though - it via telephone banking or internet banking.

I think its worth a try, they might be sympathetic, btu I wouldn't hold your breath.

Honestly, they will if you are genuine on the phone about you feel. Not angry and threatning. Just speak to them, tell them nicely how you have been a good customer...possible sound dazed and concerned as you have never really had one of these before etc etc. They have the ability to refund your money there and then on the phone, it should be returned within 5 days.

This ws my situation, it worked for me. I bank with Natwest. I cant promise yours will do the same....but the def dont like it if you go in all high and mighty..(( although you have every right its your money) remember it is bog standard call centre people you on a mass talking to and they have the power to press that refund button...

xx Hope this helps

Unless you have another online account from which you can transfer funds straight away even over Christmas, then the fact that you do your banking online doesn't matter.

You could have cheked your account online and had the cash in your hand to take your account out of the overdraft, but as the bank was shut you weren't able to do that.

If you've not had charges reversed for a long time they could reverse them, unless you're with the Halifax who might just tell you off for not managing your account properly like they did with me - was not very happy about that I can tell you!!
