Why am I beig bombarded with telesales "Cancel your debts" calls - I have no debts

Well I have a mortgage & a HI loan (& the odd creditcard) but I am sure they don't mean that sort of debt

How do I get off the list?

I have TPS already

tell them you have TPS. or lie and say you're a business

I'm getting these too and it's driving me bloody crazy. They are always when I'm trying to settle ds, eat dinner or when I'm as far away from the phone as possible! I hope someone comes along with some advice soon.

The ones I get are always pre-recorded so there's no use telling them about TPS or anything. Doesn't stop me swearing profusely at them though!

We get prerecorded ones at work so they aren't discriminating.

if you have the will though you can phone the company and ask them to stop.

or, if you listen long enough there should eventually be a real person, or at least the option to request to talk to one

They are driving me crazy

Had the pre recorded one every night at 7.00 pm for the last 2 weeks.

I have TPS as well.

I read an article about it and it stems from a change in the Consumer Credit Act.

Recent months have seen a large increase in the number of firms advertising with offers that they can write off debts through credit agreements not being enforceable.

However, there are lots of cowboys, they charge a fee and there seems to be no guarantee of getting rid of your debts.

I am more than prepared to pay my debts....after all I spent the money - I just want to stop the sodding calls I am averaging 3 a day

The only real solution is to complain to Ofcom - they do take these kinds of complaints seriously. There are regulations and guidelines about these kinds of calls but if the calls do not originate from the UK they won't be worrying about following them. If the company pushing these calls is UK based, though, they can be absolutely hammered with massive fines. Some household names in the financial industry have been heavily fined for this kind of thing so Ofcom can and do impose big fines.

i googled the company name after listening to the whole message. got a number for them. and rang them up and told them i was married to a very rich man (ha! not) and that i DID NOT HAVE DEBT PROBLEMS so could they please REMOVE ME

oh i keep getting these! I have one telling me did i know that loans pre 1997/2007 or whatever are unenforceable, and one saying did i know they can get bank charges back for me...they are automated. And I am loathed to call back the number they leave in case it means i 'register' with them.

They drive me mad, esp as some of them use 'international' as their dialing so i cannot ignore as i have an elderly MIL in USA. When i get a call at 8:30am it always has to be answered.

But if it worked for charlotte i might call them back and tell them to sod off.

Oh I keep getting these most often from 'Susan Royal' I have started to take daily great pleasure in saying to the message 'No thank you Susan Royal you can fuck right off.'
