Child benefit not going to be counted as income when assessing claims for Housing/Council tax benefit from Nov

Apologies if this has already been posted.

From Nov09, child benefit will not be counted as income when assesing a claim for housing benefit or council tax benefit.

Hopefully this will those who fall just outside the cut off for help with rent etc.

Yet another reason NOT to vote conservative!

bumping so that people may see this and make a claim

what is the income cut off? is it judged case by case or is there an actual figure

It all depends on your rent and income. Indiviual assessment. Apply and see.

Maintenance is no longer taken into account either now as of last October so potentially alot more people may qualify

Keeping this thread bumped as changes come in to effect from 02.11.09 and many more people many now be entitled.
