I need to know what £800 a month take home is before tax...........

Friend of a friend has just resigned from her job as she's moving away, and the hours would be perfect for DH. But before I tell DH about the upcoming vacancy I need to work out whether we can actually "afford" it.

800 * 12 = £9600.
Personal allowance = 6475.
So only £3125 is taxable.
Basic rate = 20%, 20% of £3125 = £625.
9600 - 625 = 8975.
8975/12 = £747.91 /month.

Double check my numbers, I'm bound to have made a mistake in there somewhere, but sounds about right to me.

sorry - I mean that the amount that this person currently takes home is £800 a month - so I need to know what the gross is (I think???)

No it doesn't £1110 gives £798 per month

There is a simple tax calculator in listentothetaxman.com plug in a few gross numbers and see what comes out

Wilts I just put £11,000 on that calculator and got £792 pcm, so well done

I used a tax calculator too . My brain can't cope with typing out numbers let alone trying to work out calculations
