Not using the family solicitor

Is it going to be a problem seeking advice from a solicitor other than the one who has known me all my life and who is the executor of my sister's will.

I think he is too close to my Mum and Dad, he and Dad go way back and it is a family matter on which I need advice.

No, infact I think it is better to have a solicitor who is not emotionally involved in your life.

no it isn't like a Dr, where if you are registered with one, you can't see another.

You are at liberty to consult any solicitor any time.
Ask around people you know, to get recommendations, if it isn't too much of a secret.
Otherwise, you can usually get a fixed fee interview with one, so you won't be paying too much money if you don't gel/feel happy with the first one you see.
