Is it true you don't include Sat Mat Pay in Tax Credits form?

I've just heard somewhere that you don't include the satutary maternity pay in your tax credit claim. Is this true?

I was on mat leave last year and wasn't aware of this, so on my claim form I put down all my income (occupational mat pay and partners earnings).

If you don't include it, is there anything I can do if this would have meant I'd have been entitled to more money?

You DO need to declare the Stat Mat Pay in your TC claim - but make sure it was clearly identified as SMP so it will be disregarded.
