Need to sign on but already have a holiday booked - advice please on missing signing days

In a nutshell...My friend got a FT job, handed in her notice at the pub where she works PT. Then FT job fell through, pub wouldnt give her her job back.

She has desparately tried to look for another job over the last few months but now needs to sign on.

Prior to all of this she booked a 2 week holiday and its all paid for.

If she goes to sign on how will this affect her money - someone has told her they will cancel her claim and she will have to start again if she doesnt sign on each week

she should just tell them

'Tis true, you get signed off and then have to sign on again when she returns but they have some kind of fast-track procedure so as soon as she notifies them she is back, she will get her money through quickly.

I think there is a regulation that permits you to take two weeks hols per year, you should check with them.

You can be 'excused' from looking for work for two weeks per year, but this only applies if you're staying in the UK. If you're going out of the country, you have to close your claim and then reopen it when you return. You don't lose benefit if you stay in the UK, but you do if you go abroad. HTH.
