Builders working on a SUnday

My builder worked on bank holiday. I had spoken to immediate neighbours. Noise wasn't that loud and didn't last that long. Some neighbour from further away apparently spoke to the builder and he stopped. I didn't know this until the Enviromental person showed up and spoke to DW today. Said that we can't work on saturday after 13:00hrs and on Sunday. Not an issue for me as it is a short job and only one week left. Builder has asked me whether he can be on site on Sunday a zero zero noise task, he assures me. Does anyone know if I am risking fine if I allow him to do zero noise task on Sunday?

He is a very nice discreet builder and is trying to make hay fitting in two jobs in the street and I don't want to risk fine but I don't want to get in the way of a man trying to earn a living.

Don't know why:

i)neigbour didn't speak to me directly
ii)why neigbour bothered reporting builder when he stopped as soon as she complained

My dad is a builder and works all days, all hours of the day/night. But then he does suspended ceilings, mainly in office blocks, so i presume the rules are different.

So sorry, no help here

Thanks Lissy- it will be a very late night run for me. But I am determined to restart. I saw a programme about apparently slim people having lots of dangerous visceral fat!

If there is no noise there cannot be any grounds for complaint - go ahead. AFAIK you can't be fined for making a noise anyway, only for failing to comply with a noise abatement order.

I'd ask the neighbours if they mind first. Advise them that it will be done quicker this way so they can get their ears back. Take them some wine aswell. Noise is really annoying.

Thanks MrV and Fluffy. I did ask the immediate neigbours and they are cool with everything. It's a lady from quite a bit further. I don't even know where she lives as the E officer wouldn't say; not allowed to say. The officer said that he will be writing us so need to ask DW if in fact he has issued a NAO.
