Depends what you want it for really.

Balance transfer? For when going abroad? Normal spending? Will you pay it off every month in full?

if you look on moneysavingexpert.com they have got all the latest card rates listed.

If it's a balance transfer - Virgin are offering 16 months interest free. JUst about to apply for this myself, and minimum payment is low so will help us out for a while.

I second the Virgin card.

We don't use credit cards, but I had a bit of an uneasy feeling about booking our holiday flights this year, so got a Virgin card for the insurance (not that BA is going to go under).

It was pretty easy to open the account - just filled in the form online and the card appeared a couple of weeks later, with some reassuring emails in between. They have full web access to the account, which I like.

I need instant cash, just a small amount that will be paid off in the next couple months.
Then I'll get us a good card when our credit rating is better.
I've been on moneysavingexpert too.

That wasn't very clear!

I've been on moneysavingexpert, but have to consult MN too!

Did you see this page on MSE?

wastingmyeducation · 27/05/2009 21:51

It says loans aren't available under £1000 Mousey, and I only need £200. No credit union round here either.

Ah, that isnt much. Dont think banks lend that little (ok, I know its not really a little...but in grand scheme!). I didnt wanna ask too much in case you thought I was being nosey.

Can you get an overdraft on your bank account?

If not, and you are, A+L have a great account with 0% overdraft for a year if you apply online. If you apply by 28th you can get £100 cashback (few terms and conditions) within 4 months. Also, you can go through quidco and get an extra £50 cashback.

Thats 3/4 of your £200 but it will take 4 months or so to get the money.

See about a third of the way down this page

I have this account and love it (use it to pay all bills from, and its seperate to normal spending account)
