Query about mortgage application

DP and I currently have a joint mortgage. We are selling up and moving area and will need a new mortgage, but I do not have a confirmed job offer where we are moving to. Both our names will go on the deeds of a new property, but as DP is the only one who currently has a confirmed job to go to, can my name still be on the mortgage? I am not sure of possible implications for me if only DP's name on the mortgage.

Can anyone advise, please?

As you say, the important thing is for your name to be on the deeds. I would expect the lender to put both names on the mortgage as well as you should both be liable to pay for an asset held in joint names.

You can definitely go on the deeds and the mortgage too - we remortgaged when I was at Uni and not earning at all and I was on the mortgage too.

Kirsty - We are not married. Do you know if that makes a difference?

Not being married is not a problem and you can still have your name on the mortgage even though you do not work.
The issue is whether your dp earns enough to warrant the mortgage you need/want as you do not have a job as of yet. If he does then you will be able to get a new mortgage.
Funnily enough if you have a job now some mortgage companies will not ask if you have a job where you are going to so that may not be an issue.
